Professional Relationships Comments
PROFESSIONAL & COLLEGIAL LEARNING
Teachers actively engage in personal and
collegial learning within the professional
community
Hannah was an enthusiastic member of staff during
her placement. She was organised with unit plans
and discussed the content for her lessons in detail
and sought feedback from her mentor teacher in the
Year 8 Unit class. Hannah also provided assistance
when working on Physical Education unit plans for
term 2. Hannah also worked successfully in the
Sport Coaching class mentoring a student in
delivering Netball coaching sessions in the local
primary schools. Hannah attended staff meetings and
took part in professional development within those
times. This included her attendance and
participation in the Student Free Day program,
which was based around a school reflection and
implementation of the Australian Curriculum using
the Teaching for Effective Learning Framework.
During her placement Hannah developed positive
working relationships with staff; she displayed a
professional attitude towards all staff and was a
positive contributor to the Pasadena High School
environment.
LEARNER RESPECT
Teachers foster trusting and respectful
relationships with all learners
Hannah was respectful in her interaction with all
students and she developed good classroom
expectations for each lesson. She developed a
strong rapport with students in the Year 8 Unit
Physical Education class and students immediately
felt comfortable with her friendly and calm manner.
Hannah was able to respond in a professional and
sensitive manner when students became disengaged or
challenged with practical activities. This
encouraged students to reengage and stretch their
learning knowing they were going to be supported
and encouraged throughout the teaching program.
Students responded extremely well to Hannahs
teaching methods and student respect was clearly
evident.

PARENT/CAREGIVER & COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
Teachers work effectively with
parents/caregivers and the wider
community
Hannah attended parent teacher interviews and
became familiar with this process. Hannah also
provided support and attended open night and
demonstrated a high level of commitment to school
events during her placement. Hannah was able to
prove she can make mature and sensible decisions
when attending school excursions. She was a
proactive contributor on the Middle Schools SDP day
excursion assisting staff and students when
participating in a gymnastics session at Gymnastics
S.A. This was further evident when assisting the
Sport Coaching class when attending multiple
coaching sessions at local primary schools.
Professional Knowledge Comments
LEARNING PROCESSES
Teachers know about learning processes and how
to teach and implement
Hannah was very thorough in her planning. This
enabled her to provide support and materials that
allowed all students to be engaged in the required
task. This was demonstrated when delivering the
Nutrition assignment to the Basketball class by
providing a glossary of terms and a step by step
process for students to follow to complete set
work. Hannah provided feedback in both her theory
and practical lessons and was done in a positive
way to motivate as well as challenge students in
their learning. She was also able make a
professional judgement and identified when students
needed support during the learning process.
LEARNING CONTENT
Teachers know the content they teach
Hannahs knowledge and understanding of content
taught during her placement was very good. She was
proactive in using school resources, but also
implementing ICT into her program. Hannah was able
to operate ICT resources to a high standard and
supported student learning and engagement. Hannah
also discussed content and other available
resources with her mentor teacher and was able to
successfully apply this knowledge and understanding
in her teaching.
LEARNING CONTEXT
Teachers know about learner contexts and
diversity
Hannahs teaching methods were well received
during her placement. She was motivated to
challenge and engage all students in a supportive
environment. When teaching the Year 8 Unit PE
class Hannah delivered a very successful practical
program with students with a range of physical
abilities. She provided activities and skills that
meet the needs of all students and this was
recognised and demonstrated through their
engagement.
Professional Practice Comments
PLANNING AND TEACHING
Teachers plan and implement teaching
strategies for successful learning experiences
Hannah was very comprehensive with her planning.
Her organisation and documentation during her
placement was excellent. This enabled her to
discuss with her mentor teacher her lessons before
delivery and allow time for modifications and
adjustments. Hannah demonstrated that she can
apply the appropriate teaching strategy when
necessary. She was able to deliver both individual
based tasks, as well as facilitate group work and
class room discussions. Clear and explicit
instructions were provided that created a
productive working environment.
FEEDBACK AND REPORTING
Teachers assess and report learning outcomes
Hannah successfully assessed a Nutrition Assignment
with the Basketball class and also assessed the
practical component taught in the Year 8 Unit PE
class. Throughout these tasks, Hannah was able to
provide support and feedback so each student could
achieve the learning outcomes. When presenting the
Nutrition assignment, students were made aware of
the learning outcomes and understood the
expectations throughout the task. Hannah
demonstrated a sound knowledge of the Health and
Physical Education Australian Curriculum and was
evident in her teaching.
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Teachers create a safe, challenging and
supportive environment
Students responded well to Hannahs calm and
positive approach during her placement. Hannah was
able to develop her class room expectations in both
the Year 8 Unit Physical Education class and theory
Basketball class. She demonstrated that she can
adapt to different settings and put in place
guidelines that promote participation in a safe
environment. These expectations were reinforced
throughout her teaching and this encouraged student
participation. Hannah was also able to challenge
students in the tasks that she taught. It was
evident that students felt stretched in their
learning and this created a sense of achievement.
Hannah has demonstrated the traits of being a very
good teacher. She is a personable teacher who
wants students to achieve and she challenges
herself in her preparation to provide quality
programs.
Pre-service teacher: Comments
My placement at Pasadena High School was a fantastic experience that challenged me and
my teaching methods. I was given the opportunity to work collaboratively and
cooperatively with students of a variety of ability and readiness levels that allowed me
to grow as an educator. This also allowed me to experiment and adapt the curriculum
outcomes and lesson content to the student needs and abilities. My final placement
challenged my thinking, planning, curriculum knowledge and understanding. I thoroughly
enjoyed it and look forward to the challenges and experiences that lay ahead.
University Liaison: Summary statement

School. By reflecting on her practise and listening to her mentors she was able to
deliver well planned and organised lessons. She developed positive relationships with
students and staff. Her strength is in her ability to create interesting and
challenging tasks for students and this will hold her in good stead when she becomes a
beginning teacher. Hannah also demonstrated the ability to use a range of strategies and
methodologies and was willing to change her approach according to the nature and cohort
of the class. As she related well to students and had sound behaviour management skills
she completed a successful practicum which indicates a positive future as a teacher.
