Our Class Constitution

Preamble

Article I - Behavior
Respect Others
All students are expected to keep hands to themselves this includes leaving others belongings alone.
No student is ever justified in pushing, shoving or fighting with another student.
All students will raise their hands and wait to be recognized; listen to what others have to say; and follow
the five Ground Rules for Discussion.
All students will be respectful of others materials and possessions. No one will steal or take anyones
possessions, even when trying to tease. Students should bring their own pencils, papers, etc. to class. The teachers
desk and materials are to also be respected by all students.
All students are to: remain seated and facing forward when the teacher and/or class is involved in
discussion and/or learning time; push in chair when out of seat; return to seat quickly and quietly. Drawing,
reading, note writing and reading may be done only when all assignments are completed and there is not any class
discussion or learning experiences going on.
All students are expected to show all members of the class the respect that every human being is entitled
to and should expect to receive.

Article II - Attitude
We believe that our attitude will be a determining factor in our success. Therefore, a positive attitude is
needed every day. It is important to try our hardest; dont complain or whine; arrive to class on time; attend school;
do not slack off; come to class prepared with assignments and materials; and help our peers to keep a positive
attitude.

Article III - Equipment
All furniture and office supplies, etc. are the property of the teacher or Preston Junior High school and will
be treated with respect. Therefore, all four chair legs should be on the floor at all times; sitting on tables is not
allowed; and misuse of furniture and office supplies is prohibited.

Article IV - Consequences
Section I. Reward System
Students will have the opportunity to earn treat days and game days. Every five to six weeks students who
do not have any missing assignments will be able to bring treats, games to play, or listen to music for 30 to 45
minutes of class time.
Skip assignments and extra tickets may be earned for exemplary scores and behavior.

Section II. Negative Consequences
Students who are not following Articles I, II, and III may lose tickets, assignment passes, chairs or other
privileges at the discretion of the teachers. Parents will be called by students as necessary. Violations of this
constitution may result in a referral to the Vice Principal.

Article V - Amendment Process
This constitution may be amended as deemed necessary.
