Learning Experience 10

Lesson Duration: 60 minutes (Draft should be finished by this lesson)


Learning Objectives:
Review and edit own and others writing, using knowledge of editing techniques (WC 6 ix)
Classroom Organisation
Heterogeneous seating again, no child with special needs (excluding gifted student) should be seated
next to another struggling student.
Parent and Assistant are both present in the room.
Learning Experiences
1. Discuss with the class about grammatical errors that may be found in a text.
2. Hand out check list http://planningwithkids.com/wp-content/2012/06/PWK-Editing-and-
Proof-Reading.pdf
3. Go through each one of these areas explicitly with the whole class.
4. Once everyone has an understand get them to swap drafts with the person next to them
5. Students then proof read their peers drafts and correct any errors whilst completing the
checklist
6. Drafts are then handed back to owner to do another check
7. At the end of the lesson drafts are collected by teacher to confirm corrections to draft.
Assessment
This is a draft piece so assessment on this will be formative. Written feedback will be supplied on the
script text.
