Lesson Duration: 60 minutes


Learning Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify different parts of an expository speech
Students will be able to construct and present an expository speech
Learning Experience:
1. Have students sitting at their desks.
2. Preview YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sNHpXjRuL8
3. Discuss Expository reports (recalling knowledge from the video)
a. why an expository report is important.
b. What are the different parts within an expository report?
c. What do you need to successfully create an expository report?
4. Students are to work in pairs to discuss the chosen topic: How the Indigenous People
Communicate/Communicated.
5. Students create concept maps using communication as their main point.
6. Discuss with ESL students if they find these communication techniques effective.
7. In pairs, students are to write an expository oral.
a. Introduction Student A
b. 1 body paragraph: New idea Student B
c. 1 body paragraph: New idea Student A
d. Conclusion. Student B
8. Students are then given 10 minutes to practice and rehearse this report.
9. Students present to class.
10. Repeat until everyone has had a turn

Assessment
Assessment will be formative and based on observation at how well the students contribute and
participate within group settings. Verbal feedback will be given where necessary.
