Corporate Women’s Network

Melbourne and Brisbane

A little history

• BHP Billiton is a major sponsor of OI

• This is a long-term partnership that
started in 2005
• The driving force behind this initiative is a
women’s corporate network now
operating in several major cities

…there is the potential to run the event

again in the same city hosted by other
corporate groups…

What are the keys to success?
1. The business model that underpins OI appeals to corporate women –
they naturally want to be involved with this organisation
2. A women’s corporate network requires “glue” to give it a cause to come
together. The OI events provide that backbone.
3. The concept of the event being matched dollar-for-dollar makes all
donators feel like their dollar is travelling further (they dig deeper)
4. There is a strategic alignment between OI and global companies that
look to enter/operate in developing countries
5. Companies target their community investment funds in the regions in
which they operate and with the organisations that their employees
support
6. An “event in a box” and OI office support greatly lightens the committee
workload
7. A women’s network drawn from a range of companies extends the
boundaries of women’s networks
8. BHP Billiton’s Matched Giving Program is a substantial community
initiative and a sound supporter of OI
