Inservice training
Targetgroup: teachers primary education
Financed by ministry of education
Since: 2003-2004 in Hamme (1997 in Flanders)
1996: attainment targets in primary education in
Flanders: Image, music, drama,motion, media,
attitudes


2003-2004: 10 teachers in one step (basic training in
music, drama & image)
2005-2010: Overview of projects in Flanders for the
educational networks
o Effectiveness of these training (survey of 273 teachers)
Inservice training good but teachers needs also coaching in their
classes
For real sustainable effects: min. 3 years working together
o Evaluation inspection 2007-2008: focus on sustainability
2014-2015: 121 teachers: region +/- 30 km around
Hamme
Three steps:
o basic training (music, drama, image/media & motion)
o continuing training (music, drama, image/media & motion)
o training demand-driven

General objectives
Further training after bachelor teacher training
To develop new technical& creative skills
To broaden their own experiences
To receive views in how to implement the
attainment targets and curriculums for expressive
arts (targets in image, music, drama, motion,
media, attitudes*)
To stimulate the selfconfidence of the teachers in
working with the expressive arts.

Basic training
In our school of art
15 sessions of 3 hours
o 12 sessions: image, music, drama
o 3 sessions: motion
Active sessions: teachers learn new techniques,
insights in what art can be, they practices themself
At the same time: art-teachers
of the part-time arteducation
are working with children in
primary schools.

Continuing education
(coaching in class)
Teacher part-time art education works with children
in class, teacher primary education will observe
and/or take part of the lessons.
Time for communication (reflection/coaching)(4
times a year)
End of year: teachers

Education demand-driven
Coach in school is working with individual teachers

o Developing learning line
o Giving inspiration in a specific item of expressive arts
