Introduction

You are a small town forensic detective and a murder has taken place. You and your
peers have the task of solving it, however, your department isnt well equipped in terms
of equipment. You will have to wait for the big state lab to provide you with more
information as you conducted the investigation, but this could take weeks!! The towns
prosecutor (aka your teacher isnt a very patient person and is demanding that you
wrap this investigation up as soon as possible.
The Crime
The rain fell violently on the night of !pril ", "##$. ! dinner party was being held at the
house of an eccentric man, %aptain &elish. %aptain &elish, a mysterious person was
'ust released from prison and possesses a new name. (e decided to have a celebration
party with the people he considered acquaintances.
7:00 pm:
%aptain &elish escorted )orma )anny, Theresa Thyme, *red *leckstone, +am +tubs,
and ,len ,lendora to the dinner table. !lthough the guests didn-t know it, each persons
life was somehow affected by %aptain &elish.
7:30 pm:
The host and guests sat down to a dinner of Tomato +oup, *resh ,arden +alad, .rime
&ib, /aked .otato and small talk.
7:35 pm:
The lights of the house suddenly went out. %hairs rustled, people screamed, and
%aptain &elish loudly groaned.
7:36 pm:
The light returned to show captain &elish slumped forward, his face in his tomato soup
and a large steak knife embedded in the back of his neck.
7:40 pm:
The police are called.
7:55 pm:
The police arrived.
8:00 pm:
%aptain &elish was officially pronounced dead at the scene. The knife was quickly sent
to the police lab.
9:30 pm:
The police lab determined that there were two types of blood on the knife0 the killer-s
and the captain-s. The lab report is enclosed along with important information about all
the %aptain-s dinner guests. 1ith the following information determine the %aptain-s killer
and the killer-s motive.
Who Killed Captain Relish?
Theresa Thyme's Family tory:
Thomas 2ustard returned from 1orld 1ar 33 and married his high school sweetheart,

"7, Thomas changed his name to Thomas +andstone and ran away from home.
Thomas was never heard from again. 5athy married 4erry Thyme, and 6ominic married
+usan +pice. 5athy had a miscarriage after two years of trying to have a child.
8ndaunted, -they -tried 9again, and this time they were blessed with Theresa.
:n a wild night, in a fit of anger 5athy 2ustard killed her husband, and 6ominic
strangled +usan to collect on a life insurance policy. !ll the 2ustards had ; blood while
4erry had ! blood (both of 4erry-s parents had !/ blood. There has been no incidence
of (untington-s %horea or 2arfans in the family.
Fred Flec!stone's Family tory:
4oe ,ranite (: blood, an infantry man from 1orld 1ar 33,
met +arah +and in the <.!. hospital after he returned from
the war. +arah, a very tall woman with / blood, and 4oe
married. Their first child died during labor due to an

couple tried again and this time they had identical twin girls0

her aorta burst during labor. >ater it was determined that she
had 2arfan +yndrome. 4une married a man named Thomas
+andstone. Thomas and 4une had two children0 .eebles (a
female and *red (a tall, slender man who was double
'ointed. 3n a bi?arre love triangle, Thomas killed 4oan and
.eebles. @mbarrassed about his father-s actions, *red
changed his last name to *leckstone. *red was later
engaged to Theresa Thyme.

deteriorating, +usan had an affair with a man named Thomas
+andstone. ! male child was the result of this affair, but
Thomas took this child to an adoption agency immediately after
his birth.
3ronically, +usan +tubs died from (untington-s %horea "B years
after the death of her husband. +am was engaged to .eebles
+andstone and has been very despondent since her murder.

,len doesn-t know much about his family history. You see, ,len was adopted by the
,lendora family when he was C months old. This is what he says he knows.
,len-s father was Thomas +andstone and his mother was +usan +tubs. (e knows that
his mother died from (untington-s %horea (he thinks that he may have the disease and
he knows that he has a half sister and half9brother, but he doesn-t know their names.
,len, an achondroplasic dwarf, has fallen deeply in love with )orma )anny.
$orma $anny's Family tory:
,reg )anny couldn-t fight in the Dwar to end all wars.D 3t turns
out that ,reg had poor eyesight, flat feet, an ! blood type, and
had a low 3E. (e and his wife, 5athy (/ blood, had two

affair with Thomas +andstone when she was "# years old. Their
child )adia was kidnaped and murdered when she was $ years
old. !fter the news, )ina went off the deep end and lost her
mind. +he is now institutionali?ed with no hope for release.
)ancy married Tony +tubs and they raised )orma. Tony died in
a bi?arre gardening accident (one that the authorities said it was
better left alone when )orma was $. +ince )orma was raised
by her mother, she took the last name of )anny. 3ronically, after
Tony died, they did a blood test which showed that he may have
had (untington-s %horea.
)orma, a 'ealous woman, knows that ,len ,lendora has a thing
for her, but she feels that she can-t love a dwarf who may have
(untington-s %horea. *red *leckstone is the one that she
adores.
Captain %elish's Family tory:
%aptain &elish. is a very mysterious man. (e says that he was recently released from
prison and has changed his name. (e claimed to have many children by different
