Charges against the son of Surinam President validate our Centers claims of an
extensive Iranian-fostered terrorist sleeper network across Latin America and the
Caribbean

Federal Prosecutors from the U.S. Court for the Southern District of New York have
filed charges against Dino Bouterse, the son President Desi Bouterse of Surinam.
Bouterse is serving his third mandate; two by coup detat, the third through elections.
He is confined to Surinam due to a Dutch arrest warrant issued following his
condemnation for drug trafficking and murder.
Bouterse Jr. was arrested in August 2013 in Panama and extradited to the United
States. Among other crimes, he has now been accused of offering support and
resources [for a base in Surinam] to Hizbollah - designated a terrorist organization by
the United States and the European Union.
Investigators added that he also planned to use Trinidad and Tobago as a bridge
between the Middle East, South America and the U.S. Bouterse reportedly expected to
receive, apparently from Iran, an initial US$ 2,000,000 pay-off.
This investigation validates our Centers claims of an extensive Iranian and Hizbollah
sleeper network across Latin America and the Caribbean. These charges were already
strengthened by a May report issued by Argentine Buenos Aires AMIA Jewish Center
Prosecutor, Alberto Nisman. We had also learned in Trinidad and Tobago of young
members of the Arab community who had left the islands for Hizbollah training in
Lebanon, stated Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director for International Relations of the

Irans influence in the region is spreading beyond the original Venezuela-led ALBA bloc
and the Triple Frontier region between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. We expect the
New York inquiry to reveal further evidence of this terror network in Latin America and
the Caribbean, added Sergio Widder, the Centers Director for Latin America.
The findings should be a clarion call for action to extirpate this scourge from the
Americas, beginning with Argentine dissolution of its reckless accord with the Iranian
patron of global terrorism for Buenos Aires and Tehran to jointly investigate the AMIA
bombing. The only appropriate course would be to follow Europe in designating Hizbollah
a terrorist organization, concluded the Centers officials.

Autoridades judiciales de una Fiscala estadounidense del Distrito Sur de Nueva York
presentaron cargos contra Dino Bouterse, hijo del presidente de Surinam, Desi
Bouterse.
Desi Bouterse se encuentra cumpliendo su tercer perodo, el primero en el cual llega por
elecciones. En 1980 y 1982 lider respectivos golpes de estado. El mandatario no
puede salir de su pas debido a una orden de captura emitida por los Pases Bajos,
donde fue condenado por trfico de drogas y homicidios.
Dino Bouterse fue arrestado en Panam en agosto de 2013, y extraditado a los Estados
Unidos. Entre otros cargos, acaba de ser acusado de ofrecer apoyo y recursos a
Hezbollah - organizacin designada como terrorista por los EEUU y la Unin Europea -
con vistas a que estableciera una base en su pas. Los investigadores agregaron que
entre sus planes estaba utilizar Trinidad y Tobago como un puente entre el Medio
Oriente, Sudamrica y los Estados Unidos. Estaba previsto que Bouterse recibiera, a
cambio, un pago inicial de dos millones de dlares.
Esta investigacin valida los sealamientos de nuestro Centro acerca de una red de
clulas dormidas de Irn y Hezbollah en Amrica Latina y el Caribe. Estos cargos ya
fueron fortalecidos por un dictamen emitido en mayo por el Fiscal de la causa AMIA,
Alberto Nisman. Tambin recibimos informacin en Trinidad y Tobago acerca de jvenes
de la comunidad rabe que salieron de las islas para entrenarse con Hezbollah en el

acerca de esta red de terror en Amrica Latina y el Caribe, agreg Sergio Widder,

Estos descubrimientos deberan ser un llamado de alerta para erradicar este flagelo de
las Amricas, empezando por la revocatoria por parte de Argentina de su acuerdo con
Irn, el principal sponsor del terrorismo internacional, para una investigacin conjunta
entre Buenos Aires y Tehern del atentado contra la AMIA. El nico curso de accin
razonable sera designar a Hezbollah como una organizacin terrorista, tal como lo ha
hecho Europa, concluyeron los directivos del Centro.
