Given a video of 9/11 and graphic organizers to write a letter students will be able to interview caretakers about 9/11 with their schema and write a letter to extraordinary, American citizens. D: with no errors in writing the letter format.

Why are you teaching this objective? -I am teaching this objective to teach my class how to write a letter and American heros in a very important day of history.
Where does this lesson fit within a larger plan? -This lesson fits within a larger plan because throughout the year we will be writing letters in cursive.
Why are you teaching it this way? -I am teaching this way because the Brain POP video is a great way to introduce a scary day in American history to children who are hearing it for the first time. I am passing out graphic organizers to help with their thinking and writing.
Why is it important for students to learn this concept? -It is important for students to learn this concept so they remember 9/11, inspire to be a suburb citizen, and understanding letter formats for when they are learning cursive.

-I will be checking students as they are writing to make sure they are on ask and that the are understanding the importance of being a great citizen and how to write a letter.

Content Knowledge that is necessary for a teacher to teach this material includes knowing how to write a letter, definition of terrorist, hijack, hero, citizen, and background knowledge on the events which occurred on 9/11.

Background knowledge of who is a citizen, writing organization and conventions, is necessary for students to successfully meet these objectives
How will you ensure students have this previous knowledge? -By having a class discussion after the Brain POP video by asking vocab words and who they infer a great citizen would be.
Who are your learners? -1 ELL, 4 girls, 8 boys, need for brain breaks.
What do you know about them? -need follow along with notes, be able to see the board, like to dance, love Legos and going outside
What do you know about their readiness for this content? -I hope they know about 9/11 but I am expecting they will not.
What misconceptions might students have about this content?
Different writing instructions for a letter from previous teachers and their own definition of September 11 th .
