Technology Current Event

The future is here and her name is the Apple Watch. On September 9, 2014, Apple CEO
Tim Cook unveiled the new smartwatch during Apples annual keynote presentation. The new
watch is truly a marvel in emerging technology, combining many apple innovations in a very
compact, sleek package. A touch screen watch, similar to Samsungs Galaxy Watch, it connects
to the users iPhone and operates much like the phone would itself; it can make and receive
calls, send little drawings and emojis to other Apple Watch users, and contains a plethora of
apps, many centered around the health and fitness fields. It also has additional features
including GPS navigation, Apple Pay, which allows one to purchase items with their apple
devices by scanning it with a NFC reader, and a built-in heart rate monitor. The Apple Watch will
launch early 2015, retailed at $349, and will indefinitely change the way we look and interact
with our wrists in the near future. (Hahn 2014)

THE EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT: THEN AND NOW (Davis 2008)

"IMMUTABILITY" AND STIGMA: TOWARDS A MORE PROGRESSIVE EQUAL PROTECTION

I used the keywords equal rights to find both articles. I used to the CCBC database
GenderWatch because the database title seemed itd would be well-researched in the issue of
gender issues and rights.

Overall, the internet articles were easier to access and were already organized as to which had
the most relevant information related to my search query. This made the time needed to choose
a sufficient article minimal. Unfortunately, the authority of each article varied from article to
article, meaning I had to make assumptions on whether trust that speaker had mastery of the
topic being researched. Also, I had to deal with many pop-ups and banner advertisements. On
the other hand, Journal articles were harder to access because I had to get them from a
database. It also took a bit longer to find the most helpful articles because the database simply
pulled up any article that contain the words equal or rights. The good thing about researching
from a database was the fact that there was no question that the author was an esteemed
professional in their area, most articles were from university professors.
