From our 2013 Data & 2014 data have cohort
of boys who are reading below the National
Standard in Yrs 5 & 6. Need to role model
fluent reading to boys.
AKO knowledge of the
learner. Grouping boys in
like groups where they can
talk about their interests
with their buddies and
choose appropriate novel
to cater for these
interests.
Good setup with expectations
punctual and mannered (MPS
Stars).
Check in from MHC students
(attendence in library)
Provide role modelling of
fluecy and good questioning.
All groups finished at least
one novel a couple of groups
started a third novel in their
time. Was motivating
listening to the senior boys
reading to the younger
students. It was evident that
relationships had been formed
between the tutees and
tutors.
Next time, I would look at
placing groups in different
break out areas. I would also
completed a fluency
assessment prior to beginning
the programme. How many
words read in x number of
minutes.
