Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)

APEC was established in 1989 to promote open trade and economic cooperation among economies around the
Pacific Rim, and, under APEC, the Fisheries Woring !roup "FW!# was formed in 1991$ %he FW! meets
annuall&, and deliberates on a broad range of li'ing marine resource issues and specific pro(ect proposals$ %he )1
APEC Economies are in'ited to these FW! meetings$ *n recent &ears, the FW! has concentrated in the areas of
management+ trade and mareting+ seafood inspection training+ a,uaculture+ and 'arious en'ironmental issues$
