TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I had the wonderful opportunity to interact with my daughters teacher Mrs. Maylene Bowe
during the 2013/2014 school year. Mrs. Bowe, a native of Barbados, has been teaching at St.
Annes School for over eight (8) years. She is presently pursuing a Masters Degree whilst
balancing the joy of being a mother to her daughter.
This dynamic and committed educator firmly believes that the way to influence the world is to
mould the minds of our youth. Hence, she utilizes the powerful medium of technology to plant
ideas, share facts, give guidance and generate the desire within her students to research material
and be well informed. All of her students are fully exposed to learning by PowerPoint
presentations. They have also been introduced to interactive learning and the responsible
utilization of the internet to
submit their typewritten assignments;
view and study information from educational videos;
manipulate Go-Animate (a programme to produce video and short films); and
manoeuvre on Edmodo (a private school social media programme that permits students to
access information from their teacher, receive guidance on assignments, stay connected
with other members of the classroom to share ideas or receive help with homework and
have online discussions with members of a different classroom).
I found Mrs. Bowe to be very organized. Faithfully, every weekend, each parent of the students
in her Grade 5 class could look forward to an email advising of the concepts that will be
discussed or tested in the classroom the following week. Mrs. Bowes attention to detail gave
me a window to peer into the classroom, and see my daughters progress in her educational
journey.
Mrs. Bowe is also a very good communicator. When I had a question, I could look forward to
swift replies to my emails via Mrs. Bowes laptop or her i-phone. When there were matters to be
discussed during parent-teacher conferences, she was forthright with information regarding my
daughter, and always tried to give a complete picture of her progress.

I appreciated the way Mrs. Bowe introduced the concept of working in teams/groups for some
assignments. I firmly believe that this is a very important tool and practical snap shot for young
students to learn much about human interaction and what life can be like in the workforce.
It is my firm belief that the strength of the team relationship between teacher and parent is
paramount to the success of any child. I can confidently say that this relationship was very
tangible and greatly appreciated, as it propelled my daughter to finally reach her goal of making
the honour roll.
Therefore, it gives me great pleasure to recommend Mrs. Maylene Bowe for any endeavour she
pursues, as I am confident that she will continue to influence the world.
