Date: 10/13/14_________________Class: Smith 5 th grade math________________________________ Instructional Objective(s): I can solve problems with fractions._________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ GLCE or District Objective(s): CCSS Unit 1 Objectives (see Math Expressions Grade 5) ________________ Behavior Management Procedures: -Student technology will be managed by circulating the room while students are working to ensure on-track behavior. -Sticks will be pulled to ensure fair student participation___________________________________ Materials: Fractions PowerPoint, Student iPads with ShowMe App Lead questions: How can you show your knowledge of fraction problems? Are you ready for the unit one test tomorrow? Sequence of instruction (procedure or steps including related learning activities): Students will get iPads and open ShowMe to prepare for fraction game. Student sticks will be divided into two teams. All students will solve each problem, followed by one stick being pulled from each group to show me work/answer. Students who solve correctly will earn team points. If both students solve incorrectly, we will review problem as a whole class. Plans for Differentiation: If students are struggling with a problem, the whole class will solve it, with or without my assistance. I will also circulate to allow for extra one-on-one support. Evaluation procedures/activities (how students met the lessons objective[s]): Students will successfully answer problems, leading to high team scores. Students will succeed on the unit one test tomorrow.
