Required Materials:
Each individual student is responsible for the
following materials and supplies:
Binder with Dividers (can be shared with
other classes)
Filler Paper
Pen/Pencil (blue or black ink)
Colored Pencils (8 count at least)
4 Highlighters (green, orange, yellow,
pink)
Textbook (cover, name on front, bring
everyday!)
Binder Organization: Every few weeks the class
will have a binder check, during this time I will
be looking to see that your class material is
organized in the following divider labels:
a. Class Notes
b. Class/Homework Assignments
c. Primary Document Analysis
d. Study Guides & Tests
e. Journal Section

Grades and Student Achievement:
Grades are determined by the satisfactory
completion of all assigned work based upon the
percentage of points earned for each assignment.
Letter grades will be determined by the NDCL scale, as
listed in the student handbook.

Extra Credit will be earned throughout each quarter by
collecting stickers on a separate handout. The
break-up of the points are on the handout. Extra
credit will only be applied to the Academic Practice
grade at the end of the quarter. If the handout is lost,
no extra credit will be earned.








Assignments, Test, Quizzes:
Most history assignments will involve reading,
writing, studying, and/or researching.

Homework Assignments will be distributed almost
every class and are due at the time that they are
announced as being due. Each student is allowed
to turn in ONE homework assignment late each
quarter with his/her late homework pass.

Quizzes may be given unannounced on any day
and will reward those students who have done the
reading and other assignments.

Tests on chapters will always be announced ahead of time.
Tests and quizzes must be taken on the scheduled
day. Any student absent the day of the test should
refer to page 14 of their student handbook for the
absent work policy

Absences:
Any student that has missed a class for whatever
reason should check the class website for missed
assignments, notes, handouts, etc. If a student is
absent the class before a test, he or she is still
responsible for taking the test on the scheduled
day.

Academic Help:
Please see me when you need extra help. Do not
wait until the last minutesee me as soon as you
can see that you are having trouble. We will work
together to ensure your success!!!

Respect Yourself: do your work, challenge

Think Like a Historian:

The essential skills for historical understanding:

Understand the chronological flow of events.
Recognize the cause and effect relationships.
Interpret facts versus inferences versus
judgments.
Compare and contrast separate topics and/or
eras.

When you master these skills, you can master any
history class!
