INTRODUCTION OF NATURAL
RESOURCES
Natural resources are living things from the
Earth that living things need. Trees are an example
of natural resources.

Natural Resources are useful raw materials that
we got from the Earth. They occur naturally, which
means that humans cannot make natural resources.

CLASSIFICATION OF NATURAL
RESOURCES
There are different ways of Natural Resources:

Biotic Natural Resources
Abiotic Natural Resources
Biotic Natural Resources: Natural Resources come from
living things materials, they are considered biotic resources.
Abiotic Natural Resources: Abiotic resources orginate from
nonliving and inorganic materials.
RENEWABLE AND NONRENEWABLE
NATURAL RESOURCES
Renewable Resources: A renewable resource is a resource
which is replaced naturally and can be used again.

Nonrenewable Resources: A non-renewable resource is a
natural resource that is used up faster than it can be made by
nature.
LAND
Causes of Land pollution:

Deforestation and soil erosion

Agricultural activities

Mining Activities

Overcrowded landfills

WATER
Resources include lakes, rivers,
streams, ice pack, groundwater,
precipitation and oceans.

Residential, commercial and
industrial users often compete with
agricultural irrigation, hydropower
production and navigation for water
resource.

Residential water use includes
drinking, cleaning, personal hygiene,
lawn care and car washing etc.

AIR
Air pollution are of two types:

Natural sources of air pollution

Man made air pollution
Causes of air pollution:

1. Emissions from industries and manufacturing
activities.

2. Burning Fossil Fuels.
FOREST
A forest is a complex ecosystem
which is predominantly composed
of trees, shrubs and is usually a
closed canopy.

Moist Tropical Forests

Wet evergreen

Semi-evergreen

Moist deciduous

Littoral and swamp

MINERALS
Minerals are the building blocks of
rocks. They are non-living, solid and
like all matter are made of atoms of
elements.

Minerals are of two types:

Metallic Minerals

Non-Metallic Minerals
