Pre!ssessment: Students will be gi$en a blan' poc'et resume to !ill out as much
in!ormation as the can in 46 minutes# 7an students will struggle with simple concepts
or in!ormation such as addresses# %his is a great starting place to see how in depth the
lesson needs to be#
!ntici"ator# Set: Seeing how little in!ormation the can !ill out will reall open man o!
their ees to how hard it is to reall get a "ob# %he idea o! a "ob leads to mone which
leads to independence which leads to !reedom and material goods) all o! which students
thri$e !or#
Teac$ing%"resentation
In"ut: A!ter the pre0assessment and discussion /anticipator set1 students will go
home and collect the re5uired in!ormation to completel !ill out the poc'et
resume accuratel#
Modeling: A!ter students return with their in!ormation) a sample application will
be pro"ected on the white board# Step b step the application will be !illed in#
Discussions will be guided throughout the process when deciding what
in!ormation is appropriate and what is not needed# A special discussion will be
held regarding e8pected salar as this is a touch sub"ect#
C$ecking &or Understanding: Students will be contributing to the !illing out o!
the sample application at each stage# Steps will be ta'en to ma'e sure that each
student contributes to the !illing out o! the application#
'uided Practice: Students will now complete an application at their des' using a teacher
created applicant# A poc'et resume will be gi$en to each student and the must ta'e the
in!ormation and !inish an application# Some in!ormation will be missing !rom the resume
that the can create on their own# %eacher will be wal'ing around the room assisting
students where needed#
Inde"endent Practice: Students will be gi$en 9 applications and must complete 4 !or
homewor'# All students will recei$e the same 9 applications and when returning to school
a discussion will commence regarding di!!erences !ound in each application#
Post!ssessment: :sing their poc'et resume) students will all be gi$en a standard
application and will ha$e the class period to complete# %his application will be the same
one used during the +modeling- portion o! the lesson that the entire class helped the
teacher complete on the smart board;o$erhead#
Measurement Tool: %he application that students turn in will be the measurement tool# (t
will be graded based on accurac) neatness) legibilit) and completeness#
Interventions: Some students are not able to write due to their disabilities# %he will be
able to dictate and ha$e an aide or the teacher record the in!ormation in the appropriate
place# <or the independent practice) students ma come in during scheduled times with
the teacher !or help i! needed# (! needed) a student ma ta'e more than the class period
!or the post0assessment i! the trul struggle to write that 5uic'l#
Closure: As a closure acti$it) the students will discuss their personal e8periences !illing
out applications and an ad$ice the ha$e !or those who ha$e not et completed one
outside o! the classroom#
