A Litany for the Care of the Earth
We have faith
in one God, one Source of all life.
One Ground of the whole earth, with all its creatures.
And thus we believe
in the goodness of earths life in the innate worth
of all its dependents, in human partnership, in the life of nature.
And thus we believe
that in Christ we have been shown the special role of the human
race to bear Gods likeness in working and caring for the earth,
in seeking to understand its mysteries and powers,
in gently working with these powers for the well-being
of all children of the earth.
And thus we believe
that Gods Spirit will lead us to sensitive closeness with earths life,
to that meek, unselfsh and compassionate life-style
by which the earth is inherited in peace,
by which its life is transformed for all creatures

Prayer
Leader: Creator God, You loved the world into life.
People: Forgive us when our dreams of the future
are shaped by anything other than glimpses of a kingdom
of justice, peace and an end to poverty.
Leader: Incarnate God, you taught us to speak out for what is right.
People: Make us content with nothing less than a world
that is transformed into the shape of love. We cry out against
all that kills life: hunger, poverty, unemployment, sickness,
debt, repression, individualism, abuse of the earth, injustice,
and all other forms of slavery.
Leader: Breath of God, let there be fullness of life.
People: Grant fullness in work, education, health, housing,
Safe environment, bread for all.
Grant communion, solidarity and a world renewed. With the
God of history, we want to make all things new again. Give us
the faith, courage and will to make it happen. Amen.
Dignity and Diversity
Ten people will come from east and west, from north and south, and will eat
in the kingdom of God.

Before each of the four prayers, worshipers are invited to sing the response
printed below and turn to face the four geographic locations as indicated.

Commitment and Service
Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and dont have enough
to eat. What good is there in your saying to them, God bless you! Keep warm
and eat well! if you dont give them the necessities of life? So it is with faith:
by itself, without any actions, it is dead.
(James 2:14-17)
Words of Witness David Rockefeller
Jesus Christ Is Waiting NOEL NOUVELET
Te tune NOEL NOUVELET may date back to the ffeenth century, but it gets its name from
the French Christmas carol which has been associated with it since the seventeenth century.

Ave Maris Stella.

Hope and Expectation of a World Made New
Words of Witness Renae Newmiller
Canticle of the Turning
My soul cries out with a joyful shout that the God of my heart is great,
And my spirit sings of the wondrous things that you bring to the ones who wait.
You fxed your sight on your servants plight, and my weakness you did not spurn,
So from east to west shall name be blest. Could the world be about to turn?
Tough I am small, my God, my all, you work great things in me,
And your mercy will last from the depths of the past to the end of the age to be.
Your very name puts the proud to shame, and to those would for you yearn,
You will show your might, put the strong to fight, for the world is about to turn.
From the halls of power to the fortress tower, not a stone will be lef on stone.
Let the king beware for your justice tears every tyrant from his throne.
Te hungry poor shall weep no more, for the food they can never earn;
Tere are tables spread, every mouth be fed, for the world is about to turn.
Tough the nations rage from age to age, we remember who holds us fast:
Gods mercy must deliver us from the conquerors crushing grasp.
Tis saving word that our forebears heard is the promise which holds us bound
Til the spear and rod can be crushed by God, who is turning the world around.
