A lymph node is stationed along
the lymphatic system, filtering
out antigens and preparing
lymphocytes in return. Lymph
enters from afferent ducts to
subcapsular sinus into the node
proper, through the follicles of
the outer cortex, through the
inner cortex, into the medulla,
and out the hilus and efferent
vessel. Lymphocytes are added
while the lymph flows through.

Thymus
The thymus is a primary lymphoid
organ found within the superior
mediatinum, behind the upper part
of the sternum. This organ is
active in children, but at the start
of puberty, until old age, it starts to
atrophy, producing fewer T-cells. It
also produces thymic hormones
that support the growth and
differentiation of T-cell
progenitors.This is an endocrine
gland because it produces a
hormone, thymosin that promotes
the maturation of T lymphocytes.

Lymphatic Vessel Carlos
Lymphatic vessels are
found in close association
to the cardiovascular
system. They convey fluids
from the tissues to the
bloodstream.

The trachea is the windpipe. Hyaline cartilage

Alveoli
Alveoli are the tiny sacs where the gas exchage
happens in the lungs. They are lined with simple
squamous epithelium. Alveoli are clustered into
alveolar sacs, which in turn are connected to each
other via alveolar ducts. The ducts are connected
to respiratory bronchioles.

Bronchus
Bronchi are the last part of the conducting zone,
bringing air into the lungs. They are smooth
muscle with hyaline cartilage rings. The smooth
muscle is lined with pseudostratified epithelium.
