WHO WE ARE
A Grateful Mind International is a volunteer staffed, grassroots organization that operates as a
Community Outreach Services Agency. We have been servicing Communities for over a decade, yet was
officially Founded & incorporated in 2011 to answer a divine call to formally connect with the many
efforts to help those in need; Offer encouragement, hope and resources to create a positive change in the
lives of those who seek assistance by helping them see that there are better days beyond their current
situation and that God will always provide.

WHAT WE DO
Our Community Outreach Programs are designed to help those in our Central Florida region that
are in need. We provide Emergency Crisis Assistance and Educational Resources to homeless and
poverty stricken men, women & children to help them move beyond their current crisis and get onto a
path of sustained selfsufficiency.
Our current programs are: EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT: Allows community
residents to receive training & resources to become gainfully employed or re-enter the workforce equipped with
transferable skill sets. EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Central Florida residents are helped
Rental/ Utilities/Life Sustaining Medicines contingent upon the client completing one of our "Self-Sufficiency
Workshops" through our Educational Resource Development program prior to funds being released on their
behalf. EMERGENCY FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS: We provide emergency food distributions by way of our:
Meals On Wheels For the Homeless Mobile food distribution; Feeding Families- Feeds Hope Emergency
Food Distributions; Free Community Dinner and aCommunity Gardens C.A.R.T. Project (meaning Community
Garden Crisis Assistance To relieve hunger Project: We have started a Food Garden to generate food in the
Holden Heights to help the poverty stricken area learn how to grow healthy food and be active in a positive
community project. CLOTHING ASSISTANCE for families in need or individuals who need proper attire for
an interview or to start a new job. Blankets for unsheltered homeless during cold seasons along with a clean
change of clothes or use them to cover themselves when they sleep outside. COMMUNITY CONNECT
PROJECTS are when we take resources directly out to the low-performing schools to help extremely low
income children & families with mentoring, activities that promote parent- child relationships & re-enforce
positive social connections within the community they live in. COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS: We offer two
renewable scholarships for low-income Adults with families desiring to earn a college degree contingent upon
the recipients fulfilling their volunteer hours with us. We also offer a reading incentive/scholarships program for
grades 9-12 called The B.R.A.G.S. Project (the Best Readers Achieve Great Success project).
HOW ITS DONE
Our goal is to exhibit the love of God through our actions...

By feeding every man, woman, boy and girl we encounter that is hungry.

By clothing every person we encounter needing clothes.

By helping those seeking shelter, to find it.

By helping those seeking knowledge, to obtain it.

To Give the Gift of Hope to those that have lost it.

WHERE WE ARE NOW
We currently provide Emergency Crisis Assistance & Educational Resources to the homeless and
poverty stricken of Central Florida out in the trenches of the community and through our partner sites.
We have learned that Prevention and Shelter Diversion Assistance can help communities reduce the
size of their homeless population. Prevention assistance can aid households in preserving their current
housing situation; shelter diversion assists households in finding housing outside of shelter while they
receive services to stabilize their housing or help them move into permanent housing. Each of these
strategies can reduce the number of people entering the homeless assistance system and the demand for
shelter and other programmatic housing beds. This is why we RACE To End Homelessness: To help
families prevent becoming homeless during their temporary crisis.

WHAT OUR GOALS ARE IN 5YRS OR LESS
We have future plans to align our Community Outreach programs with Transitional Housing. The
term Rapid rehousing encompasses Transitional Housing as a Phase I process to moving forward into a
permanent housing structure. It is a strategy that has been successfully used by many communities to
reduce homelessness. Today, most households become homeless as a result of a financial crisis that
prevents them from paying the rent, or a domestic conflict that results in one member being ejected or
leaving with no resources or plan for housing. Most households who become homeless today have
already lived in independent permanent housing, and they can generally return and remain stably
housed with limited assistance. And homelessness itself is associated with a host of negative outcomes
that can be minimized by limiting the period of time people experience it. By helping homeless
households return to permanent housing as soon as possible, communities have been able to reduce the
length of time people remain in homeless shelters. This opens beds for others who need them, and
reduces the public and personal costs of homelessness.
One of the biggest problems that weve seen beyond the local shelters being filled to capacity is
that families often result to sleeping in the cars or taking the little they do have to stay in seedy sub
standard motels. Why do they do this, because currently most of the families in need of emergency
shelter have to be split up between different shelters. If they want the shelters assistance the mom &
daughter have to go to one place while the father & son are directed to another. Add to the equation a
family with 4 or more children and the battle to survive steepens. We desire to have a Community
Outreach Center that works to keep the family structure together by temporarily housing those
families that do find themselves homeless and providing them with supportive services in house to get
them back onto a path of selfsufficiency; not referring them out in hopes that their crisis is resolved on
the other end by people they are yet to meet
