WILSON CURRENT MIRROR

PRESENTED BY :foryoureyesonly.co.cc

Current sources / sinks
Output impedance of the current source and sink should be
infinite and capable of drawing constant current over a wide
range of voltage.

The basic current mirror can be improved by negative
feedback.

There are two widely used current mirrors
1. Wilson current mirror
2. Regulated cascode

Both current mirror offers wide voltage swings and enhanced
output impedance.
Wilson current mirror
Series sampling is used at the
output to increase the output
impedance and stabilize the
drain current I
D4.

Negative feedback action within the
Wilson current sink
Suppose Vo increases
while ID1 is constant. Then ID4
would increase causing VGS3
(=VGS2) to increase which in
turn tries to force ID2 to
increase. But if ID1 is constant,
then the voltage at node A must
decrease since ID2 = ID1 .As a
result, VGS4 would decrease,
thus stabilizing ID4.

The small-signal analysis for obtaining this result
