Description of Activity/Task/Experience that demonstrates I am at or above standard in
the specific skills for the standard mentioned above:
During my junior year at Liberty High School, we were required to complete a
semester 2 project. Which was a client/health improvement plan. For my project I
researched Gastroparesis. I had to take the instructions which were given to us by our
Health Services teacher and create a power point that included pictures, statistical and
written information about my topic. I also had to put together a detailed notebook with
all my findings and information required for the project. I had to interview patients with
this disease and chart and create a health plan for them. On the day of my presentation, I
was to present my power point to the class. I wrote out notecards of the most important
information to use in my presentation. This was to help me in not reading word for word
of each slide. The class was able to ask questions at the end. I did not actually get to
present my power point as time did not allow. I turned in both my power point and
notebook to the teacher.
Explanation/Reflection of how the activity/task/experience described above meets or
exceeds the specific skills of the standard mentioned above:
I was very successful on this project. I worked very long and hard on this project.
I had to keep records of patients weekly data and I researched various means of
treatment. This was to help patient in being successful with treatment. I had to learn new
medical language and research different areas of possible treatment of the gastroparesis.
This was hard at times as this disease does not actually have a cure currently. I was
really nervous about speaking to people and presenting this to the class. That is why I
prepared the notecards and practiced speaking and presenting with my mom at home.
Even though I did not actually get to present my topic, I was prepared and had knowledge
on my disease. I was very proud of myself as this was the biggest project in all of high
school I had to put together and follow the directions of how to set up my notebook and
power point.
