aoily,thickcoatthatrepelstheheavyrainoftheirhabitat.
Predators:Theleopardistheprimarynaturalpredator,asitistheonly
speciesstealthyenoughtoambushanokapi.
CauseofEndangerment:Thelargestcauseishabitatloss.Humansare
encroachingonthealreadysmallterritoryoftheOKapi,stressingits
environment,andbringingthesolitaryanimalsintouncomfortable
proximity.
ConservationEfforts:TheBrookfieldZooheadstheOkapiSpecies
SurvivalPlan,whichaimstopreservethespeciesifitwastogoextinctin
thewild.Fundsfromthisprogramalsohelpwildconservationeffortssuch
