Oral Communications
Great Communicator Essay: Adolf Hitler

Although there were many great communicators throughout history, I believe Adolf Hitler was
one of the most remembered. Through his conviction, charisma and knowledge Hitler united the entire
country of Germany to viciously rid the world of what he thought was an unfit race. Having such an
influence on such an amount of people is why I believe Adolf Hitler was one of the greatest and most
remembered communicators in history.
Hitlers strong conviction against the Jews promoted him from the manager to the leader of the
German Workers Party, later renamed the Nazi Party (Spartacus Educational 1). In 1929, already famous
throughout the country, discouraged Germans looked to Hitlers promise of a better tomorrow during
the global economic depression (Rice 85). Hitler would use this opportunity of power to blame the
Communists and Jews for Germanys problems (Rice). Traveling the country giving speeches, Hitlers
passion when he communicated helped him win over crowds and leave them hanging on his every word
(Best Communicators 1).
Hitlers knowledge of the times prepared him for effectively influencing the country of Germany.
Hitler knew what the people wanted to hear and that is exactly what he told them. Hitler convinced the
country that he would provide them with the government they needed. In rural areas he promised tax
cuts for farmers, working class areas he spoke of redistribution of wealth and when speaking to
businessmen he spoke of his plan to destroy communism (Spartacus Educational 1). Hitler knew his
audience and changed the appeal according to who he was talking to.
With a country afraid to enter another World War, Hitler persuaded Germany that the only way
to peace was to annihilate the Jewish race in Europe (Toland 116). Hitlers effective preparation and

communication with the soldiers left them never questioning their orders (Toland 164). Hitler convinced
everyone he had taken over Europe for the common good (Toland 167). When the effect of persuasion
wore off Hitler turned to force and instructed his followers to prevent resistance and every German was
obliged to follow his orders or die (Toland 149). Hitler had organized over 20, 000 concentration camps
and was responsible for over 6 million Jews dead (Giblin 208). With the Soviet Army making its way to a
depressed Hitler, he decided to right a will with the plan to kill himself while his wife did the same
(Giblin 212).
Although gone, Hitler will never be forgotten. Hitlers conviction, charisma and knowledge
united the entire country of Germany to viciously rid the world of what he thought was an unfit race.
Having such an influence on such an amount of people is why I believe Adolf Hitler was one of the
greatest and most remembered communicators in History.
