Forming group and big hits

G.R.L. are an American-British-Canadian girl group formed by
Robin Antin. Robin Antin formed this group while thinking about
replacing the departed members of the Pussycat Dolls. The band
consist of these members Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada,
Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen. The group originally
included singer Simone Battle, but sadly Simone was fighting
depression for quite some time and committed suicide where
she was found in Los Angeles on September 5, 2014.
Each member of the girl band G.R.L auditioned separately on X
factor in different years. Robin Antin then decided to bring back
Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton, Paula van
Oppen and Simone Battle with the thought of them joining
together as a girl band to replace the departed members of the
Pussycat Dolls. G.R.L was really successful when they released
Vacation, Ugly Heart, Show Me What You Got, Rewind, Dont Talk
About Love and Girls Are Always Right. After G.R.L released the
following songs, they were featured in a song/music video with
pit-bull called wild wild love which went viral.

Lives before G.R.L

The girl band G.R.L members lead vastly different lives before they formed a group. When Simone
Battle turned four, her father came into her room and woke her up by playing Whitney Houstons I
Will Always Love You on a stereo boom box, ever since she was 12 Simone has been rewinding the
tape over and over. This encouraged Simone to join the cherub choir, ballet and tap club, and she
even did television commercials, before landing a post-high school internship with a company that
worked with The Black Eyed Peas.
Lauren Bennett had a similar story to Simone Battle, but instead her story consisted of her mother.
Lauren was encouraged by her mother, who sang and played piano, she began singing after her
parents bought her a karaoke machine. After that her father heard her potential in her voice, and
he began entering Lauren in talent competitions when she was 12.
Emmalyn Estrada has been signing ever since she was six. Emmalyn was very shy while growing up,
she was surprised by all the attention she got for her voice. From the age of 13, Emmalyn
competed in singing and dance competitions, studying hip-hop and jazz and teaching herself to play
acoustic guitar and piano.
Natasha Slayton was born in Los Angeles, she started dancing ever since she was four and studied
piano and music theory at eight, and writing songs at the age of nine.
For country girl Paula van Oppen she never enjoyed singing at a young but, when Paula grew older
and older she started getting into the music business where she was on stage with Usher, Katy
Perry, Keri Hilson, and Lady Gaga for the lead of playing instruments such as bass and being a dj.
