The children will be able to correctly cut and glue letters to the given letter.
The children will be able to identify letters and familiar words.
The children will be able to interact appropriately with one another.

- Practice identifying letters, books about the alphabet, work on cutting and gluing skills

- discuss different letters and where they can be found, writing names and letters

- Children will use scissors and glue in the correct manner
- Show and tell children how to use materials given the correct way

A. Motivation/Introduction
- Children will spend time reading books about different letters

Allow children to write their names and tell what letters are included
Explore by taking a field trip around the building to find different letters

B. Concept exploration
- Children will be given scissors and a magazine
- Children will be given a letter to find inside the magazine
- Children will find their letter and cut it out
- Teacher will provide the children with a large version of their letter
- Children will then glue their letter to the larger letter in order to fill in the empty
spaces
C. Inquiry
- How do you like cutting?
- What shapes and sizes are you letters?
- How did you decide where to put your letters?
- Why do you think we have so many letters in our names?

D. Closure/Transitions
- Have the children clean up their area and place materials in the correct places
- Ask children to sit down on the carpet and read them a book about letters
- Line children up to go outside
E. Assessment
- Express the childrens ability to identify letters and shapes through the art work on
the wall.
- Children created work which can show the use of cutting and gluing skills.
Extension Ideas
- Identify letters using different resources
- Create a class letter book
