3. Stalins methods of control.
a. What was the Great Purge? How would Stalins use of this action increase his power?
It was to protect his power and to eliminate anyone who tried to take that power from him. He did this
after he turned his back on the communist party.
b. What was Pravda? How did Stalin explain the purpose of art in the USSR?
He wanted to really show all of the positives that came out of the heroic labor that was going on in this
time and that it could really help.
c. What is an atheism? How did Stalin use atheism to influence his control over his citizens?
It is rejection of a religion and he really used to this to his advantage against the citizens.
2. Results? This was a very negative result because people had shortages in their homes and
didnt have enough food and had about shorter supplies of about everything
c. What methods did Stalin use to bring agriculture under state control?
He used secret police to get these peasants under control and to control them and try to kill them. He also
started paying them wages instead of paying their share that they needed. After the Stalin agricultural
revolution 90% of peasants lived on collective farms which is like a bunch of peasants that have to live all
on one farm.
