SPECIFIC TOPIC: U.S. Immigration policy analysis

COMPETENCE: explores and shares information about how United States immigration policy affects
families; discussing in small groups into the classroom and community, outside the classroom.

RATIONALE Nowadays it is important to know about social issues how policy immigration affects to face
different situations in our life.

LESSON CONTENT United States Policy Immigration affects immigration families

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a.

Warm-up The teacher shows to the students some pictures according to the lesson, they have to talk
about what they think the topic is.

Teaching procedures

b. Presentation: The teacher presents the lesson Immigration issues and a documentary (without
country) according to the lesson, explaining how United States immigration policy affects families.
c.

Controlled practice: the teacher presents a worksheet with the vocabulary and a case study of the
Megia Family, the students answer the questions. (groups of four)

Semi controlled practice: Each group share their point of view about consequences and how the
policies in United States impact in the families.

Free practice: Each member of the group share about what could he/she do in this situation.

Closure: The teacher shares his/her possible solutions and ask to the students about their own
point of view.
