ABSTRACT

This is a Study of Photography , it is a also a part of qualitative research .Using

Photographs as a tool , surveying and interviewing photographers how they get
inspired to take pictures how they express there memories and creativity
through pictures and how pictures can change peoples perspective of viewing it
when photos hooting , how it can change peoples feelings what inspires them to
take pictures and what does photography mean to every photographer, People
using different types of camera , how photography can teach you many things
about life , time cant be reversed.Everyone should value the important
times.The times that you think you would forget , every people wanted to
remember every part of their life but when time goes on and on till the time that
you look back to the things you do in the pas t it will be just a little piece of
memory which the camera and the photos help you memorised it , those who
can benefit these research can be anyone who is really interested in
photography and this research can also make us look to many ways of life how
life works and keeping memories we should use a normal iPhone would be a
natural memory than a pro-camera , it also helps express words we cant say

INTRODUCTION

In 2013 i started photographing which at first i thought it was nothing interesting
but when i take pictures more and more , i found out that it is very interesting.
Photography teaches many things , Photography can change the perspective of you
and taking pictures , it could make you see things , you didnt see.And also
photography helps you think that when there is a good moment in your life you
should learn to value it not waste it its true that pictures can keep the moment from
running away but if there is no camera in this world then what would you do , would
you waste your good moment and forget that once you have that moment in your
life.Cameras and Pictures help you warn yourself that time cant be stop and
everything goes on and on , people in your lives one day they will not be with you
anymore and you too. i met someone who was really interested in photography and
was inspired by it and i talk with him about photography , on the end of the day he

become my new best friend , he and i was inspired by the Vintage style and it changed
me from not being able to photograph to a person who really want to take pictures
and make it to come out good.I studied and lived with photography for almost 2
years. I really loved it in fact i cant lose it too.People say music can also help
express feelings,this is true that music helps but pictures can too , pictures triggers
your memory from forgetting to remember. everyday i take pictures all the time and
every places i go. Some people just take pictures and share it on Instagram or
Facebook but some take pictures to express there feeling about what the picture is
and what is related to them , i could guess that every pictures that the photographer
takes lies a deeper story and really means something to them, why would he/she take
this picture , pictures represent the photographers feelings and there will be one
picture that could change there feelings from depress to happiness.Pictures are also
like memories that we forget , a picture when we first graduated , a picture when we
are born , when we got married. a picture really worths a 1000 words in fact it could
mean a million word , word that you cant say , words that cant be told by speaking ,
words that you and only the picture itself knows.No matter how long the time has
pass , the picture doesnt go with it. It will always remind you that once you have that
moment and its a moment that makes you help you remember those feelings.

LITERATURE REVIEW

In modern life nearly everybody has a camera , photography not only represents a
major technological advance, but also forms a new and socially constituted way of
seeing (Barthes 1981; Berger 1980; Debord 1977; Dunn 1986; Hall 1972; Sontag
1973). People often dont completely see things the way it should be the camera is
an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.(Dorothea Lange ,
2006) Photography is seen primarily as a means of transcribing reality rather than
as a way of symbolising it (Hall 1972:84; Woollacott 1982:99). The idea that a
photograph is a window on reality,,photograph becomes a concrete form of reality,
replacing direct experience as a primary source of knowing (Berger and Mohr
1982).These photographs not only draw out and establish what tourists see or how
they see it, but also how they know and understand what they see. Popular
expressions such as the camera does not lie signify the importance of photography
as a standard of value and judgment in visual awareness .A photographs image is not
the sum of its appearances. It is a arrangement of a whole picture in which it is
linked together to form a composition that makes sense to the photographer and
the viewer.The photograph can make feeling which we forgot to life as (Eudora Welty,
1973)says A good snapshot keeps a moment from running away.one picture can
tell many stories and more than a thousand word according to (Ansel Adams,1980)
when words become unclear i shall focus with photographs when images become

inadequate, i shall be content with silence when you photograph its not just
randomly taking pictures According to (Albers and James 1983, 1984b, 1985; Marsh
1984; Sontag 1973) photography are found not only in the choice of the subjects,
but also in the ways in which they are represented. Photographs can be objects of
strong curiosity.Photographs also catch many pieces of the emotional currents within
situations that are involved in a mans reactions to his cultural circumstance.And
Photography does something unheard-of when it catches motion in the act There
accidental shape of its appearance reveals the snapshot as a fragment. In
photography, there is no geographic escape from the conflict.Photographs were
meticulously mounted in ascending order of evolution and acculturation and also
photography has greatly affected modern thinking. We have changed our views of the
world to approximate the universal view of the camera.Photography is an abstracting
process of observation but very different from working in the field inscribed notebook
where information is preserved in literate code. Photography also gathers selective
information, but the information is specific,in addition photographic images as well as
his vision. People have commented repeatedly on how the individuals he photographs
do not seem to be aware of his presence, an observation I would agree with. It is
almost as though he were listening instead of seeing projecting that lost ear into the
scene.Photographic comparisons can be a powerful measure of change, as when we
take photographs of a place, subject, or activity from the past and put them together
with photographs from the present. Such a comparative examination was the
motivation for the extensive home cultural inventory ,According to Walker
EvansStare. It is the way to educate your eye, and more. Stare, pry, listen,
eavesdrop. Die knowing something. You are not here long. and also photography
are not separate worlds but bridges constantly traversed by families on the move.
The symbiosis between tourist photography and family photography reflects also that
in a modern world. In performances of posing, the body is brought into play as a
culturally coded signof happiness, politeness, attractiveness, intimacy, and so on.
Photography is as much a way of directing and a way of acting as a way of
seeing, and it often involves intimate relations between observers and the
observed.In addition to choreographing camera work, the humanly performed
aspects of photography are visible in relation to practices of taking photos and
posing for cameras. The object of tourist photography is not just static scenery but
also corporal actors. The act of being photographed makes one acutely aware of
ones body and its appearance; cameras make one act, As Barthes (2000) reflects.
Images are not something that appear over or against reality, but parts of practices
through which people work to establish realities. Rather than look to mirroring as a
root metaphor, technologies of seeing form ways of grasping the world (M. Crang,
1997, p. 362). Photographing is about producing rather than consuming geographies
and identities

Method
Participates - My participates are people who uses cameras and foreigners
because foreigners took pictures in Thailand including street photography too ,
because Thailand has all the styles that can be taken. for example Street photography
, Vintage , Black and White , Retrostyle and i think they will bought cameras with
them too.This include for people who use cameras too , i think the reason why i
choose this because people that uses cameras are interested in taking pictures and
making the picture to look good

Survey the people that i will be doing my survey might be teenagers but foreigners too
because if i survey people whose are not interested in photography but just like
taking pictures , it might not help so there are peoples who really love thanking
photographs so i might go survey them too

Interview I will be interviewing foreigners definitely but if i cant anyone to interview i will
interview my friends that really love in photography the reason why i choose
foreigners because i saw many foreigners come to Thailand and they surprised about
many things and foreigners that come to Thailand take pictures back because
Thailands a beautiful country

Data Analysis
My research is is a picture worth a thousands words? , can a picture change
people feelings , i collect my data through surveys and interviews , i survey how
it could change peoples feelings and how they get inspired by photos and the
difficulties when they started photography , i surveyed people who like
photography and who are very interested , how the photos and the
photographer is related somehow and photographs view a lot of ways in life ,
photography shows how , photography is used to express feeling from the
photographer and view it in a photo shoot

My results tells that 88% of people said that the photographer and the photos are
related somehow which is ok because i believe that the photographers photos are
inspired by his memories such as places ,animals, cars, hats, peoples, views ,so in
someway it is related. The results also tells that people like to take pictures which
display 86% colours like Red,Green,Yellow instead of Black & White , 1% of people i
surveyed never take pictures at all which is unbelievable.6% of people dont like
photography.55% liked photos with effects more than no effects at all.95% of people
surveyed tells us that pictures can change peoples feelings such as views , can let you
feel great , feel inspired.A funny face picture can make you laugh.A picture which is
sad can make someone cry.I had interview 4-5 people about Photography,how they
het inspired to take pictures , what does pictures mean to them and what are the
difficulties when they started photographing.The results i got from my interview is
when i take pictures , i keep it as a memory so one day i could come and look at that
memory with my own eyes, the difficulties when i photograph is how to take it and
express it to let other people feel what i feel , i agree with that pictures can change
people feelings, i also got the same feeling when i suddenly saw a picture of a
beautiful view at a art event.I get inspired by my brothers pictures which is cool and

i was inspired by the art of photography too.This is one of the person i interviews
who really like photography , i chose this persons opinion because i thought this is
the best i interview , this also answered that photos are used as memories too, which
help people remember their important times in the past

Limitations
My weakness doing this research is finding people who really love and
interested in photography , when i ask peoples who dont really like
photography they will say a different path of answer things this is a kind of
thing which is difficult , things which a could done better is survey more
people how they think about photography and interviewing what
photography means to them everyone has there own style of photography
and different style of perspective photo shooting , so more interviewing
and surveys too

Implications
This Qualitative research is for everyone who is very interested in photography ,who
is thinking about what pictures can change people feelings and how a picture is
capable of .My research could tell how people get inspired for a photo shoot and
what kind of pictures they like and which they dont like.how photography show
different life works.My research could tell what does photography mean to them.The
next step is what kind pictures does people like and how does it effect there feelings.
