Bio-Inspired Robot wee - fe By: Carlos (CONFIDENTIAL), Kelan (CONFIDENTIAL Caleb(conripentatiand Kawika Principal Investigator (Caleb Martin) The robot was created by Leif Ristroph and his colleagues from the Now York University. It was bio-inspired by a Jellyfish and its movements will bo very similar to jellyfish. The robots looks are mainly compared to a Jellyfish. The Jellyfish robot will bo used to measure carbon dioxide levels, It is able to hover and climb in the air, The robot weighs about two grams. The robot is still a prototype and will obviously need improvements that will help ass the tests. Improvements are still coming to the robot which will make it more efficient. Itis still connected to a power source and will soon be improved. The improvements will allow it to fly. Itis also able to crash into walls and objects without taking damage The robot is still a prototype and still needs improvements. "Without circuits and sensors, it's also lighter."-Ristroph. This makes the robot lighter, making it easier to hover and fly. Ristroph says that there will be more improvements allowing it to go underwater and float. The robot will most likely be used for science but it could possibly be used for the military but in different ways. It’s name is Cribot CRS 14. Ithas three modes: Crisis Mode, Recovery Mode, and Security Mode. Crisis Mode is where the robot goes into wreckage and finds survivors. The features that come with this mode are that it can maintain stable flight inside of a tomado or hurricane, carry up to 10lbs of material, use laser targeting systems, and send beacons to call ‘or help. Recovery Mode makes the robot Scout for food and water in order to sustain the lives of the survivors that it finds in the wreckage. A key to this mode is what is called and Adapt chip. This is basically a 5,000 GB nano computer that allows the robot access to countless files, protocols, and ithelps tt adapt to the situation. The Adapt chip is programmed with every known language, environment, and food source in the world. This Adapt chip allows for this robot to be truly adaptable, much like a real animal. Security Mode makes the rabot into an all-in-one camera, metal detector, bodyguard, and riot control. It uses its complex ‘eye technology to spot potential threats and perform security scans. It can also taser and deploy tear gas during riots at command. It will also have a camera in both eyes to allow for manual control and visual feedback of the situation. The Cribot CRS14 Techarges with three flexible solar panels on the back. Our nanobot is modeled after a dragonfly. We chose this because the dragontly has can fly and crawl through small spaces. The dragonfly is also easier to model, since itis basically just an exoskeleton, rather than a bird, which has a muscular and feather layer. Due to its size, the dragonfly is also harder to kill or detect than a soldier or a security guard. Another important thing is that the dragonfly features many easily distinguished joints. The wings and legs are modeled are after ball and socket joints 0 that they can go in different directions, and the tail is made out of wires and ballistic gel, which is modeled after hinge joints. The structure of the firefly is useful because tis thin and flies smoothly and fast. The materials for the wings would be plastic, and the materials for the body would be stainless steel and it would have a carbon fiber finish. Tho dragonfly also requires less material, making it cheaper than most robots. But what will counter that is that many of the technologies will cost more to be customized to actually fit inside or on the robot.
