OBJECTIVE
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTYFY COGNATES AND
INTERANTIONAL WORDS IN ENGLISH
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY FALSE FRIENDS
OR FALSE COGNATES

ACTIVITY
1.-Ask students about different words they know in English, Use
magazine cut -outs to identify international words or cognates.
2.- Students will brainstorm as many words as they know in teams o
that are cognates writing them on a piece of paper and share with t
group. So as a class can get a complete list of cognates.
3.- Provide students with cognates and false cognates cards. HAhav
them identify real and false cognates you can explain the meaning i
their own language to identify the difference in meaning
DICTATION GAME: Dictate 20 cognates to students and have them
correct in teams.

STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTYFY AND


PRONOUNCE CORRECTLY THE ALPHABET LETTERS

1.- Write the alphabet on the board practice the pronuniation as


class have students practice several times individually orin pairs.
2.-have the students write their names in a card so you can show th
name and have different students spell them in front of the class.
3.- The teacher can dictate cognate words spelling them so studen
can write them properly have them peer check to correct mistakes
4.- students can play battleship game with vocabulary cognates

1.- Students will write their full name in a card and place infront of
them they will try to spell 2 classmates names
2.- Then as a game in teams, they have to spell names and last
namesof each member of the time but using a celphone timer to
check the speed, as a contest check which team does that in less tim
You can do this activity 2 or 3 times in the month so you students ca
check their improvement.
Colors are introduced to students with flash cards or visual aids. the
students can play a memory game to practice pronunciation and
spelling too.
Show the alphabet using technological drawings so it can be more
meningful to your students.
Introduce email vocabulary so students can spell their EMAIL
ADDRESS. @ / _ - ... first model as a hole class then have them wo
in pairs. dictation of the 20 cognate words again and peer check.
