Activity: Cupid Shuffle Dribbling

Everyone will have a basketball.
We will listen to the Cupid Shuffle and dribble along to the song. Dribble to the right with right
hand, dribble to the left with left hand. Kick your right leg up while dribbling, can dribble under
it if possible, then do the same with the left leg. Dribble around in a circle. Do this routine for the
length of the song.

Activity: Score Away

Students are partnered up. Parter A stands on the half court line and B stands on the white
volleyball line. A passes to B, B pivots, dribbles, jump stops, shoots, and then rebounds. B
Dribbles back to the half court line while A moves to the white volleyball line. Repeat.

If extra time, play HORSE.

The first player makes any shot at the hoop.
If Player 1 makes the shot, Player 2 has to try to make the same shot from the same place and
using the same style that Player 1 did. If the second person misses then the third person takes his
own or her own shot. If Player 2 makes the shot then Player 3 (or Player 1 depending on how
many players you have) attempts the same shot...so on and so forth. But if Player 1 misses that
first shot, the second player becomes the "leader." If Player 2 makes the shot, the other players
must make the exact same shot...so on and so forth. Each time a player misses a shot, another
letter is added to their score, beginning with H, then O, R, S, and finally, E. When a player spells
Horse, he is out of the game.

Closure: Go over objectives. Ask what basketball skills we worked on today. Talk about
sportsmanship.

Assessment / Evaluation: The evaluation for todays class will be based on my observations and
giving feedback to the students while the drills and activities are going on. The feedback given to
the student will be both praise for good and correct work and also some corrective feedback to
help with proper technique.
