Readings for the day

Morning: Psalm 4,5,6; Isaiah 63, 1 Corinthians 4
Evening: Psalm 7; Isaiah 31; Matthew 18:21-end

Thought for the day: VAIN PRAYING

It is good to pray to GOD all the time. He is always ready to hear us
and grant unto us our desires. Jesus Christ encouraged us to "ask, and
it shall be given to you".
However, the Psalmist tells us in Psalm 5 that God does not take
pleasure in wickedness neither shall evil dwell with Him. The foolish
shall not stand in His sight and He hates all workers of iniquity. He shall
destroy them that speak falsely and the LORD will abhor the bloody
and deceitful man (Psalm 5 : 4-6)
Knowing fully well that there may be such in him, the Psalmist said he
will enter the temple of God in the mulititude of God's mercy. In
essence, what the Psalmist does is to ask for forgiveness before
approaching God and pleads that God should lead him in His
righteousness.
For you, do you regularly check yourself for besetting sins and ask God
for forgiveness, making amends and walking in the righteous path of
God. If this is not done, your prayers are vain in the sight of God.
Why not repent of your evil ways and ask God for forgiveness today.

Prayer for the day:

O Merciful Father, You that forgives those who repent of their sins,
have mercy on me, pardon and forgive me all my sins; confirm me in
all goodness and grant me the grace to make amends in my life, these
I ask through Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with You and the Holy
Spirit forever. Amen.
