o Formative Assessment: Pumpkin Activity. (hands- on)
o Summative Assessment: Fall Mad-Lib
Teaching Materials:
What materials do you need in order to teach this lesson?
o Warm-Up Worksheet
o Computers
o Adjective words handout
o Pumpkins
o Markers
o Promethean/Smart Board
o Mad Lib Worksheet

Identify the specific technologies you/your students will use to enhance this lesson.
o List websites
www.screencast.com (JING)
o Hardware/software titles
ActivInspire
o Assistive technologies
Promethean Board
Anticipatory Set: This is the hook of the lesson.
How will you motivate the students to focus on the learning task, its importance,
and/or their prior knowledge/experience?
o Introduce the lesson plan by incorporating Fall/Halloween themed activities, and
lessons. Carving pumpkins is a tradition in the United States that occurs every
year during the time of Halloween. Therefore, students will be eager to learn as
they experiment with a pumpkin.
o Students will be able to be creative with the activity.
o Students will be able to work in groups.
State lesson objective to the students: Provide a developmentally appropriate
statement of what students will be learning and why.
o How will you explain the objective to the student?
The teacher can start to explain the objective to the student by asking them
a question. For example, who knows what an adjective is? Something
along the lines of that will be able to introduce the topic of the lesson/ or
unit. For this particular lesson, the objective will be on the dry-erase
board, along that days expectations and times. The whole days worth of
activities and classwork will be explained in detail before the class gets
started and all information said will be available on paper and on the
computer (depending on how to students would like/need to review it).
The objective is:
Students will learn how to use adjectives in sentences by
participating in various activities.
The teacher will explain the process of how they will learn the particular
objective. It will motivate the students to learn because this is a hands on
activity based lesson.

Procedure: These procedures should be clear and descriptive enough so that another
teacher could deliver this lesson.

10-20 Minutes

As a warm-up students will

be given 2-3 sentences to
read and re-write all nouns,
verbs, and adjectives that
they believe are in the
sentences.
After finishing the warm-up,
students will share &
compare their answers with
a partner.
Then get together as a whole
class to discuss questions.
All Kinds of Adjectives
handout will be given to
each student to have a better
understanding of what
defines an adjective and
how they are used in a
sentence.
Students will creatively
make at least one sentence
or more to show the
comprehension of the
objective.
After the students have
finished their sentence(s),
some will come up to the
Promethean Board to
demonstrate their sentences
to the class. The students
who did not share their
sentences will be the ones
who will circle or highlight
the adjectives in other
students sentences.
This is the activity that
incorporates the usage and
definition of adjectives.
The students will be able to
use their 5 senses to
describe the pumpkin, which
will allow them to
understand the meaning of
the objective.
This is how the teacher will
know that each student will
be successful with learning
the lesson.
If the students have enough
time they can share
descriptions.

Mad Lib

Homework

Students will take home a

created Mad Lib and fill it in
the best they can from what
they have learned in the
adjective lesson.

TPACK: We have chosen to use the blended learning as our key pedagogical approach in our
lesson. Activ-inspire is the main technology. Using blended learning in this lesson will give
students the ability to learn in different ways. For example, the students will be able to work in
groups, by themselves, and use different technology. They will be able to take notes from the
teachers mini-lecture. There will be a combination of Drill & Practice Learning, Writing
Workshop-Based Learning, Lecture- Based Learning, and Independent Study Learning. The
Activ-inspire software for the promethean board gives a fun and very resourceful way to teach
students in different ways. For example, the student(s) that have difficulty hearing and seeing,
will be given the option to get closer to the board, or given a exact copy of the lesson plan they
the content very clear. Students who have trouble reading are able to listen to the content because
audio can be entered into the flipchart as a lesson is being made. Also, students who have trouble
with comprehending and particular assignment they can work with the teacher or student using
the promethean board to get hands on instruction. It helps with current and future learning. Using
the promethean board and all the components within it will help further any students future
learning.

UDL Implementation:
Multiple Means of Representation:
o Activ- inspire will help the different ways of representation by allowing the
teacher to add audio, video, and visual ways to complete the lesson.
Multiple Means of Engagement:
o Students will be able to work in groups or by themselves; whichever way is
helpful learning to them will be acceptable. For example, If the student needs to
have complete silence to get started on an assignment, they will be able to soundblocking head phones to enable their learning.

Multiple Means of Action and Expression:

o Students will be able to use the computer for online information on adjectives and
to view anything that has been given for help on the computer for their learning
necessities.
o Students with writing disability will be able speak/type their sentences for part of
the assignment using JING(www.screencast.com )
o The Teacher will be checking up on each of the students to confirm that they are
headed in the right direction with assignment.

Closure: This is the act of reviewing and clarifying the key points of the lesson.
What will you say or do to bring this lesson to an appropriate conclusion?
o Questions asked by teacher and answered by student to finalize the
comprehension of the lesson
Who can tell me what nouns and verbs are?
Who can tell me what an adjective is?
What did you learn today?
What do you like about fall?

o Teacher makes a small exit ticket for each student. As they are in line about
to leave class they will describe something the teacher asks them to using one
or two adjectives.
Can you describe that chair?
How did your pumpkin feel?
How did your pumpkin look?
