Reflection
More than anything, this course helped me to understand and appreciate human
differences. The class fit perfectly into my goal of becoming a teacher, in that it helped me to
understand the differences that we have as humans. We are all different, yet have many
similarities. The development for every individual is unique and through this class and Professor
Jarvis I have learned how to tie what we have learned in class to almost every real world
situation.
I also had opportunities to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate personal and dynamic
relationships found in individuals, groups, social institutions, and the environment relative to the
process of aging. I learned how to compare and contrast ideas from society by evaluating claims
and arguments and widely held beliefs about human interaction throughout the lifespan. I learned
this through observations completed throughout the course. You will find this observations here
in my eportfolio. I forever will benefit from having taken this course from Professor Jarvis and
would highly recommend to any future teachers such as myself.
-The science of human development seeks to understand how and why people- all kinds
of people, everywhere, of every age,- change over time. The goal is to help all 7 billion
people on earth to fulfill their potential. (Berger, 2014, p 4)
