Lesson objective(s): SWBAT learn how to incorporate descriptive language in their writing
using their five senses creating a mini presentation with verbiage and images describing a
rainy day, storm, or any other event, thing or item in which they use their sense for
describing as they explore using Google Slides to develop their presentation. This activity
serves as an introduction and practice prior to using Microsoft Powerpoint.

Materials: computer, Internet, Google, ELA Journals- list of adjectives and sensory words,

Key Vocabulary: Describe, Five senses,See, Smell, Sound, Taste, Touch

Instructional plan:
Motivation: SW view Flocabulary video Show it Dont Tell it, engage in whole group
discussion topic - What is a descriptive presentation?
Whole Group Activity: Topic: What is a descriptive presentation?
Guided Practice: TW guide student through how to create a Descriptive presentation in
Google Slide using images and words. Provide students with Basic Presentation Check-off
Rubric prior to introducing the student to using Microsoft Powerpoint.

Differentiation/accommodations:
Resource, Tier 3, and Tier 2 Students: SW read aloud daily, required work is decreased to
built in extra work time, and one to one instruction coupled with peer-support, Technology
Teacher or student model guided practice
