Observation day 1 (18th September)

Dear reader,
On my first day of observation, I cant deny I was a bit nervous. I didnt really
want to have a bad experience with the teacher as some of my classmates had
had. It was a about 2 pm. And the teacher entered. We followed her, until she
realized about our presence and asked us who we were apparently, she
wasnt expecting us. She explained her and she remember right away about
us. She asked us to take a sit and she started the lesson the topic was
about daily routines. As there are few students in the classroom, teacher asked
all of them to participate she called them one by one with their names and
assigned the number of the sentence they had to read and turn into a question
(using auxiliaries do does and question words). I could spot right away who
had a good level of English as well as the ones who tried very hard to
understand. But when a student did not know how to convert the sentence,
other students, the ones who knew, helped them. Some made mistakes in
pronunciation, but the teacher corrected them right away, while reading. I
could see that students themselves tried to keep a friendly atmosphere in the
classroom. There was a lot of laughter shared with teacher and with us. At
some time of the lesson two students raised their hands and asked the teacher
who we were that was fun and cool because if they wouldnt have asked, we
would never have been introduced to the whole class.

Observation day 2 (25th September)

Dear Reader,
Itd felt good the first time, so I wasnt nervous at all - instead I was looking
forward to what the lesson would be about. I entered the room and the teacher
said she had the results of the last test they had sat for. She delivered the tests
and checked it afterwards. There were very poor marks as well as the number
of people frustrated. A student called the teachers attention when saying he
didnt deserve that mark because she had been late on the midterm day and
that she hadnt given time enough time to accomplish all the tasks properly.
This student seemed to be very sad, so I decided to offer him my help. After
checking the test, on that day, teacher asked someone to choose a number and
there was the first student who had to start presenting his ppts. They were
asked to describe their house using expressions such as there is a mirror on

the wall there are As far as I remember, all the presentations were very
good most students had trouble with pronunciation, though. However they
still presented nice ppts, which showed the commitment with their learning and
their teacher. The next day, I met with a student and I helped him to prepare
his presentation. Hopefully, it went well. Im looking forward to the teachers
feedback.

Observation day 3 (2nd October)

Dear Reader,
On the third day, the teacher arrived around 20 minutes late and then she had
to go to Tomas Moro building to get the material (formative test) to develop the
lesson, so we didnt have much time to observe. But from the time we had the
chance to observe, the teacher asked the students if they had done a
homework some of them did not do it, but they participated anyway in the
lesson. I remember it was a piece of writing concerning a description of the
clothes a person was using in a certain season of the year. When students put
their hand up, the teacher asked 3 of them to go and write the description in
on the whiteboard. While they were writing (it took almost 15 minutes), the
other students were on their own stuff. Once, the writers were done, teacher
asked other students to go in front of the class, read the piece of writing and
find and fix the possible mistakes. While, any student was reading the teacher
was correcting their pronunciation right away. I would not dare to say they
remember now those corrections. It was time to leave but before that we
invited students to participate with us in the tutorials. We explained them how
it would be like and the befenits they could get. Some of them said everything
was ok with English, just the opposite of what the teacher says. We gave them
2 weeks for thinking about it so as to come into an agreement on what day we
could meet.
Observation day 4 (9th October)

Dear Reader,
On the fourth day of observing, the teacher arrived to classroom and as well as
the students and we. The first thing teacher asked for was a homework they
were supposed to do. Just few of them did not do it, but as a lesson before,
they participated anyway. The task was about describing a famous person. So
the T asked some students to write in the whiteboard their description and at
the same moment, some others were asked to read aloud their product. Once
the students finished writing, the students who did not bring the hw had to go

in front and read and spot the possible mistakes in their classmates pieces of
writing. Afterwards, teacher started talking about past simple. She made use of
a ppt to show where the auxiliary verb had to go and the different verbs
(regular-irregular). Students seemed to have an idea of those verbs because as
the teacher uttered the different verbs, they drilled without being asked. After
that, the teacher had some exercises on the screen. All together did one by
one. That topic would be included in the quiz they had the next day, on Friday.
