Introduction
Play I spy game again. Allow 2 students to also have a turn
Review what was taught last week about describing words.
What things can we say about something to describe it.
Today, we will be playing I spy all class. Explain to the
students that you will have 4 different objects at the front and
that you want them to write down a description.
Bring out the 4 items. (Can be brought from home or chosen
from within in the class.)
Body
Provide an example for the students. Choose one of the objects
and have the students help you come up with a description.
This description will be for the grade 1s to copy down into their
booklets. It should be 3-5 sentences. Do not allow grade 2s and
3s to copy this.
Have the pass out person hand out the writing books.
Explain that grade 2s and 3s will write a descriptive paragraph
about one of the objects. Grade 1s will copy what you have
written on the board and then underline all of the descriptive
words.

Have the students share their clues with 3 others, who will guess which
object they are describing. This could also be feedback to the student to see
if their description is accurate, making their object easy to guess.
Have them write another clue for one of the other objects.
