As you get your assignment and begin to figure out what you want to do,
create an outline to help frame your work and visualize where the individual
sections will fit in.
One way to organize your work is through an informal outline such as an
outline map. Fill in the following outline map as it fits your assignment:

In the introduction of your assignment, make sure that you

begin zoomed out and zoom in to the specifics. Have a hook
with a worldly scope and end with a thesis that is
centered around what you will be talking about. Also,
make sure that you define key terms!

The body paragraphs should all follow a similar structure that has a topic sentence, supporting details and an analysis connecting the points you made back to
the point of what you are writing. Be sure to use transitions, words or phrases
that direct a reader through a piece of writing. Make sure to vary these throughout the text to avoid redundancy.
In the space below, list some transitions that you can use in your writing:

(transitions can be related to the organizational structures related on the other side or they can be general statements)

In the conclusion of your assignment, make sure that you are

not retelling your audience everything that you covered in the
body paragraphs. Try to balance restating ideas with
connecting your ideas to a more worldly contextzoom
back out! You can even try to call the audience to action or
have them reconsider their original perspective.
