My name is Sara Kornoski and I am twenty nine years old.

I started my
education first at Macomb Community College where I received two associate
degrees. One was General Studies and the other was Associate of Arts. They
were obtained in December of 2010. In 2012 I transferred to Wayne State
University into the Social Work Program. I obtained my Bachelor of Social Work
in December of 2014. Since October of 2005 I have been employed with
Creative Care in Clinton Township. From 2005 to 2010 I worked as a Support
Staff. As a Support Staff I worked with a severally physically and mentally
handicapped child. My job duties were; to ensure the childs health and safety.
Assist with my clients personal hygiene, oral feedings, g-tube feeding, toileting,
bathing, light housekeeping, grocery shopping, dispensing medication, ordering
and picking up medication, communicating with clients family, build rapport with
the family, laundry, assist client with leisure and recreational activities, and
community outings. In January of 2010 I was promoted to manager in a
supportive living arrangement. I still have the same duties I did as a Support
Staff with additional responsibilities. I made weekly schedules, schedule and
attend meeting with the clients multidisciplinary team, a nd doctors, make sure
each shift is covered. I have learned a lot from working with the client and it has
been my guiding force for wanting to pursue a career as a social worker.
In 2012 I embarked on my Social Work education at Wayne State Universitys School of
Social Work. In May of 2014 I began my field placement at Community Housing
Network in Troy, Michigan. I worked under the Community Programs with the
Emergency Solutions Grant Program. I conducted ESG meetings with potential program
participants and assisted them with short term housing and up to six months assistance
for individuals and families who are literally homeless, chronically homeless, fleeing
domestic violence, at imminent risk of becoming homeless, and/or homeless under
other federal statutes. I served to help individuals and families who are zero to thirty
percent below the median income find safe and affordable housing.

As a Social Worker I will conduct myself in a professional manner. I will passionately


advocate for my clients and help make positive changes by implementing policy
changes to better serve individuals and families in need and from oppressed groups,
vulnerable, populations at risk. I will always fight social injustices. I will align my practice
as a social worker with the Social Work Code of Ethics. I will also follow agencies
policies and procedures that I am employed with.
