Rationale for Selection: (Based on childrens culture, family, community experiences, home language,
specific assessed needs and interests)
Based on childrens culture this activity will show them that diversity is all around the world and they can
learn a lot from the world around us.

Goal and Objectives:


The child will learn the different states and countries.
The child will learn the different states and countries of where all the different cultures
originated from.
The child will learn where their peers are from.

*Anti-bias skill: To value uniqueness of ones own family and others families.
*DRDP measure(s): Measure 1 Identity of Self and Measure 15 Expression of self through
language
Materials Needed: Yarn, construction paper, plastic eyes, markers
*Teacher Preparation: Cut the yarn and the construction paper into people shapes.

Procedure: (step by step)
Beginning: How will you introduce this activity?
I will introduce this activity during circle time. The children will gather in a circle and sit on a letter in the
circle. I will then tell them that I have an exciting activity for them and thats when I discuss about the

activity and what we are going to be doing. I would talk about the materials and what we are going to be
doing with them. I would be telling them that we are going to make multicultural paper dolls that identify
themselves and their culture.

Middle: List open-ended questions that the teacher could ask:


What is culture? What does it mean to be different? What is similarity?
End: Plan for Clean-Up and Transition:
I would let them know that they have 5 minutes left and then we are going to sing our clean up song and
while we are singing we are cleaning up at the same time. We will then have all the children wash their
hands and get ready for our next activity. In the mean time I will have them come to the carpet and I will
read them a story
