Introduction

My electronic portfolio shows the requirements fulfilled for Wayne State Universitys
Bachelors of Social Work Degree. The time put in this portfolio is to showcase all the work that
has been done throughout the Social Work program at Wayne State University. Most importantly,
this portfolio does not just showcase my work but showcase the knowledge I have gained in
order to practice Social Work.
This portfolio is organized in an easy to understand manner. There are tabs on the left
hand side, which guide viewers to what material will be presented with each tab. The first
important tab is the Submission Letter tab, which addresses what material, is presented in my
portfolio. It will be important for the professional viewing this portfolio. The next tab is the
Introduction tab that is where you are. This gives you my introduction to my portfolio and my
reasons for creating it. After the Introduction tab, the next tab is for my resume. This page has a
copy of my resume, which is available for download. Following the resume is my Personal
Statement, which goes through the goals and competences I have gone through during my
Social Work program. The next tab titled Competencies goes through assignments I have
completed in all my Social Work classes and how these assignments meet the competencies that
are important to the Social Work profession. The next important tab is titled Appendixes which
has three letter of recommendations as well as my formal evaluations from my supervisor at my
field placement. This tab also features the acceptance letter into Wayne State Universitys
Masters of Social Work program. The second to last tab titled Reflections goes through five
reflections of various articles and readings that were done in my last seminar class in the
program. The last tab titled Contact Me is open to those whom want to email me with any
important information.

The assignments that have been completed are important in my development as a social
work because they address important topics such as depression and research. For example, my
community analysis paper goes through the history of the Assyrian people and why this
community is growing in Sterling Heights. It goes through why social workers are needed within
this community and why it would be beneficial for them to have a social worker. These various
assignments along with my evaluations, resumes, and letter of recommendation provide evidence
of the world-class education I have gotten to complete my Bachelors of Social Work degree.
The process of completing this portfolio as well as completing the requirements of my Social
Work degree has allowed me to gain knowledge that will allow me to better help clients and
advocate for the rights of individuals. This process has helped me clarify my goal of wanting to
become a school social worker and help those adolescents in need.
