Don Cheadle, Hotel Rwanda, directed by Terry George (2004; Los Angeles: Lions Gate
Entertainment, 2005), DVD.
Director Terry George tells the story of the genocide mass slaughter of Tutsi and
moderate Hutu in Rwanda by members of the Hutu majority. This movie could be of use
to the paper because it describes the type of slaughter, hatred, and abuse that the
government could organize to start violence in cities. As in the movie the genocide was
planned by top ranked levels of national government so therefore to kill approximately
500,000-1,000,000 of the population.
This is also good for the paper showing that if an organization was really planned to kill,
theyre killing innocent lives. George Terry quoted that I co-wrote, directed, and
produced the film Hotel Rwanda in an attempt to capture the horror, the worlds
avoidance of the slaughter, and, most of all, the heroism of a handful of Rwandans at the
Milles Collines hotel in Kigali. The film was a critical success, and more importantly
managed to inform and educate ordinary Americans about the genocide. Which also
helps in the paper to inform readers about the education about genocides that can happen
here in our own government.
Goodman, The perfect crime in America is killing an unarmed black man and claiming selfdefense, Huffington Post, September 29, 2014, http://www.huffington post.com

News article written by H. A. Goodman tell of Eric Garners homicide. The importance of
the Article is to show the killing of unarmed people in America, no matter race, gender,
or ethnic background you are in. Goodman makes the reader stop and think about garners
background information like his multiple arrested, domestic violence, and drugs. That
still doesnt give the officer a right to kill. This could be useful in the paper because it
focus on the subject at hand and how the government promoting violence.
K., Louis C. "HBO." If Murder Was Legal. Phoenix, Arizona, 15 Feb. 2013. YouTube. Web. 21
Oct. 2014.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQUr2RkjykU&list=RDmQUr2RkjykU&index=1
Louis C.K.'s video explains why the law against murder is needed in the United States.
He makes the statement that If murder was legal, then everyone would murder, even the
really nice neighbors down the street. C.K. provides examples of those who would
murder and the extent of their killings. He gave a distinct example of an annoyed mother
who might kill her children and all she would have to do is put them in the dead child
body bags.
This video would be useful for the paper because it provides numerous examples of
murders that would take place, such as murderers killing more people because they will
not be punished for it. Although C.K. provides a good argument against legalizing
murder, even for a small period of time, he is out of touch with reality in some of his
thoughts, such as parents murdering their children.
Wassell, Stacie. "Should Americans Be Allowed a 24-hour Period of Illegal Activity (murder,
theft, Etc.) with No Repercussions?" Personal interview. 28 Oct. 2014.

Lykens, Farmer, Malcom 3

Mrs. Wassell informs me about the unconstitutional aspects of an event where all crime
in the United States becomes legal for a 24-hour period. From a legal perspective, such
an event would be a direct violation of human rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness. Mrs. Wassell also looks at the event from a forensic serologist perspective, in
that the crimes, such as attempted murder or rape that occur during the time period, can
be punishable a few days after because then the crimes are legal again. For example, Joe
beats his neighbor with the intent of killing him and moves on to the next house because
he is under the impression that his neighbor is dead, but in reality he is only severely
injured. The neighbor can go to the police about the beating after the 24-hour period is
over, therefore the crime is legal and punishable by law.
This interview would be useful as information for a informative paper because it provides
an opinion from an experienced scientists perspective and a lawyers perspective. This is
a credible source because Mrs. Wassell has her Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree
in biology and has been a forensic serologist at the Arkansas State Crime Lab since 2005
and is a 3L student at the UALR Bowen School of Law. She is well experienced and
knowledgeable in both areas therefore she is able to give a more objective opinion on the
topic.
"What If The Purge Was Real?" The Week. 17 July 2014. Web. 28 Oct. 2014.
Scott Meslow describes how the Purge was an eye opener for the viewers within the
United States. Scott Meslow states, It should be said, explores the societal ramifications
of its central event in far more detail than the original. He then goes on to describe the
ways the world would be if the Purge were in existent by sections such as economy and
morals. Just like the movie, Mr. Meslow believes that the economy would jump with

success because of the impact wealthy people would put onto the poor. He says that the
wealthy would survive through the Purge because they can afford to murder or defend
themselves, while the poor would go into a downfall. The poor would instantly be struck
with failure because they could be all alone with no way of defending or affording
weapons to kill.
Scott Meslow describes the moral side of the purge as a disgrace to the human nature. He
believes the Purge is morally wrong and has no idea how anyone could accept the idea of
going out to murder. Meslow states, Pew hasnt conducted a poll about whether
Americans would support the Purge message, but Ive found a few (admittedly
unscientific) polls that make The Purges 88 percent found that the Purge sounds
ridiculous. On debate.org a poll was brought out and 66 percent found that the Purge
wouldnt be supported in real life. In my opinion, Scott Meslow can be right in almost
every word he says in this article. He believes that the economy would be stronger, but
its morally incorrect. I agree with everything he says in this article. Meslow can help this
paper by giving out statistical polls through the economic and moral sides by peoples
opinion.
"What Would You Do If The Purge Was Real?" Screen Rant. 11 June 2013. Web. 28 Oct.
2014.
Perri Nemiroff describes the importance of the Purge in a movie sense. He describes the
unemployment at a low rate, what year it existed and what events happened in this film.
At the sub end of this article, he describes his ways on what he might end up doing if the
Purge was an actual event. Perri Nemiroff states, Considering I have no children, Im
safe on that front but in all honesty, if the Purge did exist, Id definitely play it safe and

lay low unless someone threatened my family. But obviously thats the lame answer, so
if I opted to have a little bit more fun with the concept, Id skip out on murder and
indulge in another crime watch out Apple stores; in 2022, Im coming for you.
I believe the words from Perri Nemiroff are important because everyone who thinks of
the Purge automatically thinks of murder. People do not realize that our civilization
would rather steal goods or technology. I believe this article would aid this paper in a
way of showing the other sides of the purge than murder. We could go into the economy
struggling after the purge because of the cost of replacing all of the stolen items.
