Mackenro Alexander final essay

I want to do IDSC because I can choose the classes on my own that help with my major and career goals.
Auburn doesnt offer a degree in sport management but this degree will help prepare me for career in the sports world.
My educational goals are getting my masters in fitness and conditioning and being a football coach at the high school
level. Also I would seek an alternative masters in a teaching program so I can be certified to teach.
Some of my possible career goals are being a high school football coach, also a personal trainer, strength
coach, or a college coach. I want to coach because I would love to change kids lives and give them a chance to make
it out like I did. Why am I excited about the classes I chose? Because all the classes I picked have something to do
with my major and it would be very helpful toward my career goals. I selected emphases in leadership and kinesiology
because they go perfectly with my major and career goals. Leadership is a big factor and my major because it has to do
with sports. You cant be a coach without being a leader. Kinesiology is important because you learn about the human
body and as a coach you will need to know a lot about the body.
Below is the specific coursework Im looking forward to taking in my IDSC major.
Kinesiology
1. KINE 3103 adaptive sports
2. KINE 2253 motor development school years
3. KINE 5820 sport management

Leadership
1. LEAD 2000 foundation of leadership
2. COMM 3100 Speaking Before Audiences
3. MNGT 3810 Management Foundations
My back up plan would be opening a work out facility for children. I would train individually so they would reach
their athletic goals.
