lifestyle habits that are bad for their heart and explain how to counteract those
habits.

Valentines Day activity? Who can tell me some common
colors or objects associated with Valentines Day?
Learnable Piece: Today, you all are going to describe at

Presentation of New Material/Directions:


Who can tell me a bad habit or activity that would be
bad for your heart?
-couch potato
-Junk food
-smoking
Today we are going to play Healthy Heart Tag
Taggers will represent an unhealthy habit and you must
do a physical activity when youre tagged in order to
fight the negative effects of that habit.
What are some things we could do in order to
counteract these habits?
Call on 2 students to give ideas.
In order to keep playing after you are tagged, you must
do 5 jumping jacks to maintain a healthy heart.
Each tagger will have a foam ball so you know who they
are.
The boundary is within this half of the gym
Safety: you may only tag others below their neck and
above their waist. Make sure you are looking up as you

Choose taggers by asking whose birthday is close to
Valentines Day Give 3 taggers the foam balls
Transition: Have taggers come forward then ask
everyone to spread out in the playing area.
Activity: Students will be in half court of gym, jogging
and trying to dodge the 3 taggers.

Possible Modifications:
Add another tagger if only 3 is too easy.
Change what they do when they get tagged
Have everyone skip instead of jog.
