your homework routine. It is a great way to double check
homework assignment, hear school/classroom information,

Math:

We are still working on multiplication. We are


moving on to 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, & 12. I am
teaching the students how to use partial
products to find the product when they do not know it.
It is just a strategy to use until the fact is memorized.
In math class we are working on two math computer
programs; Font Row and Xtramath.com. Each of these
programs can be done from home and on a tablet after
downloading the app. There are links on my blog.

Writing:

Our How to Cook a Turkey papers went


great, you are going to wish you had these
instructions on Thanksgiving morning to help
you cook your turkey! Save them for next year!
Our next writing project will have something to do with
Santa and his outfit! Keep an eye out for these works of
art.

We are finishing up our group books this


week. All groups will have a overall openbook test on their books and their character
maps will be do for participation grades.
Aside from reading groups, we are incorporating science
into our 90-minute reading block. We are going to study
Earths materials of rocks and minerals. We are also
going to be doing 2 experiments in the classroom to test
our thinking!
Learning Goal:
3.2.1 Examine the physical properties of rock samples
and sort them into categories based
on size using simple tools such as sieves.
3.2.2 Observe the detailed characteristics of rocks and
minerals. Identify rocks as being
composed of different combinations of minerals.
Vocabulary: model, compare, soil, mineral, grain,
humus.

Gingerbread Houses:
Its that sugar time again this year! Please join us in the
sugar construction of Hobart on Friday, December 12 at 1
pm. If you are able to join, it is one of the highlights of
3rd grade. I sent home a green form last Wednesday with
date, time, and supplies needed by last name. Every
student needs to bring in one box of graham crackers and

one tub of white frosting, plus one decoration item from


the list. Let me know if you can join in the fun!
