Ms. Escuderos 6th grade


Science Class

Hello to my Explorers!
You are scientists from NASA and you
have been given the opportunity to find a
new possible planet in our solar system.
You have to determine if it is a planet and
best of luck explorers!

Task
You in a group of 3 students, must create
an illustration of a new possible planet,
and write two to three paragraphs
describing this new planet you have found.

Process
1.

In groups of three, each student will be given the following


roles:
1. Student 1: Using the resources being given to you,
construct the properties of your new planet. Student 1,
use properties of all the planets in our solar system and
use the information to determine the properties of your
new planet using the planet graphic organizer.
2. Student 2: Use the information from student 1 to write
the paragraphs needed to describe the new planet.
These paragraphs need to be typed and printed out.
3. Student 3: Using the information from student 1, create
the image of this new planet on construction paper.

2. All students, Please pick up during class a graphic organizer


from me to help you complete this task. Students who have the
role as Student 1 pick up an additional copy of the same graphic
organizer.

information on the website, all three
students need to find information to
determine the three things that determine a
planet.
4. All students, please fill out the graphic
organizer to find your research.
5. Students you have one week to use your
roles to complete this assignment.
