Before:
My lowest scores occurred in employing interdependence and adopting lifelong learning. I don't believe
that I ever reject offers of assistance, but I do prefer to figure out problems on my own without help. I was
taught growing up someone will not always be there to fix your problems; so, it is better to figure out the
issue yourself in case you encounter the same challenge again. Independence, self sufficiency, and pride
in one's work are values we hold close to our family and I plan on continuing to do them; however, I
should not be ashamed to ever once in a while reach out and ask other peers to see if maybe they are
having similar problems and then work together to solve them. I could also improve in the area of lifelong
learning. Partially, I think that comes from the pressure on students to do well in school, achieve high
GPAs, join as many teams as possible, and still have time for community service. Competition, I think,
makes it difficult for students, myself included, to slow down and fully absorb the given material because
often times it seems there's always another class, or team, or personal issue that comes up that is more
important. After being told to seek academic perfection in school, it is hard to resist the urge to only do
what it takes the get the A and then move on to the next class.

After:

My lowest score still occurred in the employing interdependence, but I have

improved by eight points. I think this mostly resulted from my organic chemistry
class this semester. The difficulty of the class forced me to change my ways and
study with other students. By studying with others I was able to teach other
students the material and we could learn from each other and other common
mistakes during the class. While I still plan on continuing the strong traits my family
instilled in me, I plan to evolve more as a student. I am no longer as ashamed to ask
other students for help and I feel like it more beneficial to me than it was before. I
did decrease in self motivation but I believe that is mostly due to the semester
being almost over and me feeling a lack of drive as the end of the semester nears.
My lifelong learning remains about the same and that is because I am still trying to
balance trying to achieve good grades and learning for the passion component. But,
I do not think everyone is going to be perfect after one semester of college, but I do
think it was a helpful process.
