My Trip to NASA
It began on September of 2007 when my science teacher told us about the
educational trip to NASA. I remember that the same day the teacher told us about
the trip, I told my mother about it and she replied to me that as well my sister had
gone to that trip, I also would go and have that experience. So with this, my mom
started saving all the money that she could and around December of 2007 we had
all the money so I could go to the trip.
The educational trip consisted of 19 day on which we visited 8 parks of Disney and
obviously NASA. The trip was on the last week of June of 2008 and I was scared
for being my first time traveling without my family, but then I felt confident because
a group of seven friends who I had known for a long time were going to travel as
well.
Finally the big day came, I was on the airport with my friends and the teacher
waiting for the plane and I remember that we laughed of the things that some girls
of the group, brought to the trip. One of them had an expensive hair dryer and we
asked her, why did you bring that? and she answered because I have to fix my
hair anywhere a go. Few minutes later we were boarding the plane and our
journey began.
We arrived to Orlando around 5:00pm. After we got our luggage, there was a bus
waiting for us and it took us to a Venezuelan restaurant where they cook similar to
Puerto Rico. Later, the bus make a stop on a Walmart, so we could buy food,
beverages and snacks needed for the parks. When we reached the Hotel and
make the check in, we (the boys) were more excited than the girls because the
girls and the teacher rooms where on the second floor and our room was on the
third floor, meaning that we could do our mini parties without worrying that the
teacher scolded us.
The first week and a half, we went to few of the parks of Disney and it was fun
because we had a Puerto Rican guide that keep making jokes every time he could.
The best part of the parks was that as a big group, the guides were getting us the
Fast Pass, so we didnt have to do big lines to get on the attractions. Then on our
free day, we decided to visit Aquatica, to cool off from the summer heat. The next
day we finally went to the NASA. The guides divide the visit to NASA in two days.
The first one, we visited Cabo Caaveral and they gave us a tour of the facilities.
On the second day, we went to the training facilities of the NASA and that was one

of the best experience I ever had in my life. One of the exercises that we could do,
was a test, not like the ones that the astronauts do, but similar. We seated inside a
ball and the instructors tied us, then the ball start to spin around on every direction
to simulate a little of experience of the G-force. The next two days we went to two
other parks of Disney. On the second to last day, we went again to the Venezuelan
restaurant where they prepared a farewell celebration to us and it was very
interesting seeing how the Venezuelan staff of the restaurant celebrated with us,
like we were family and we just met twice.
The last day, for me, always the worse, because every time I travel, its hard to
come back but I was going to see my family again so I was happy about it. We did
the check-out at 12:00pm and our flight was at 8:00pm so we needed to spend
time and we went to a mall where we pass all the afternoon. Then we headed to
the airport and we got there around 5:30pm. While we wait for the plane, my
friends and I remember the best moments that we had during the trip. At 8:10pm
we boarded the plane and we arrived to Puerto Rico at 10:30pm.
This was an experience that I will never forget, is one of those that will never be
repeated but I will have all of those events attach to me for the rest of my life.
