Womens rights relating to the Preamble
Whats the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of the Preamble? Is it
womens rights, or the common defence of women?Because of the preamble many lives of
women have been changed over the years. The Preamble still provides for the common defence
of womens rights. This is still proved today.

Preamble meanings
In the Preamble it states Insure Domestic Tranquility, this means everyone should feel
calm and peaceful. Over the years have had trouble with rights, women could not do as much as
men could, women can do more stuff now then they could before but some laws havent
changed. As a part of the fundamental human rights, men and women have equal rights, based
on a male-dominated assembly.According to www.acuns.org women all around the world face
economic, political, and social challenges. Women and girls around the world are forced into
things like marriage, sex slavery, or trafficked into labor. Trafficking affects all regions and the
majority of the countries in the world.
Common Defence
One of the lines in the Preamble is Establish Justice, this means everyone should have
equal rights or moral righteousness. This is important because not everyone is treated

for example Rosa Parks sat at the front of the bus to prove she had as many rights as white

people. Next there is Provide For The Common Defence this means provide resources for the
military/the citizens, and defend against outside threats. The primary responsibility of the
government of the United States of America, is to ensure the nation is protected by threats both
inside and outside the country. To Provide for the General Welfare means to benefit from new
inventions could promote new ideas to get more money. The United States Constitution contains
two references to The General Welfare, one occuring in the Preamble and the other in the
Taxing and Spending clause.
Establishing Justice
An international womens movement struggling for womens rights began many
years before the founding of the United Nations. Later in the years social and economic changes
caused by an industrial revolution led to voluntary associations, of various kinds. In some
situations women participated with men, but also set up separate organizations to improve the
position of women. Voluntary organizations immediately realized the importance of this, for
promoting peace and human welfare. The league of Nations represented an un-experienced form
of inter-governmental collaboration. The League of Nations realized that women were a valuable
support group, while women saw the League as a powerful arena for the advancement of their
objectives.

In conclusion the Preamble still provides for the common defence of women rights. This
is still proved today, by the fact that women can take part in things involving government, or that

they simply have the right to vote. Even these little things still make an impact on womens
rights.
